Legion Saga did it, had a save file in Legion Saga 1 and it could be carried over into Legion Saga 2 and you could recruit more characters, only instance I've seen it done in an RM2K/3 game.

I know it only came out this year... but for me, Spec Ops: The Line, after finishing that game more times than I've had eggs for breakfast, my other shooters like Homefront, CoD, and Clive Barker's 'Clive Barker's Jericho' by Clive Barker, are all left sulking, unplayed on my Steam list.

What areas of RPG making really hinder your project?

Dialogue writing, to an extent, I mean, I love writing the characters dialoge, and fleshing them out, letting their personality traits shine through in cut-scenes... but I always write too damn much! In a lot of my older games (which will never EVER see the light of day) I always do the "repeating something that only needs to be said once fifteen times"

Oh, and mapping caves... I hate mapping caves. I can never get 'em right. they always look too awkward and artificial.

How Difficult to Remake Final Fantasy 6?

Yeah, I remember that. a waste of oppertunity, and what did Squeenix do? re-release CT on DS with exactly the same graphics and soundchip, make FF13-2 and then tell us to piss off.

Though while we're on the subject, an 8-bit FF6 wouldn't go amiss :P

I brought Painkiller: Hell and Damnation, well worth it, it's an awesome game, I've got Cry of Fear and Afraid of Monsters to play through, I started playing Shadow of the Colossus after many a year, I'm playing Darksiders 2, Sleeping Dogs, and Clive Barker's 'Clive Barker's Jericho' by Clive Barker.
