SALOMAC'S PROFILE

I am a carbon-based life form located on the third planet from the star "Sol". I am mostly an artist , and dabble in various defunct, art styles that only I seem to find attractive. From time to time I flirt with making a game only to be sidetracked by life altering events. Now that I am finally _relatively_ stable. I'm climbing back on to the saddle... lets see how far this goes.

Resonate ~call out my angel~

This looks pretty interesting!. I haven't started working in VXace just yet (even though I bought it) But its cool to see whats possible. I love it when people go out of their way to make their game look unique. Definitely looking forward to this *Subscribe*

@Pizza

I'm totally diggin the style In your screens. It feels very fun! Simple yet consistent . I'm sure its been said but it kinda sorta reminds me of Pokemon games. In a good way! I like it.

@Erave

Man, the colors in your screens are just jaw dropping . Especially since it doesn't seem like many are being used. I hope we can see some vids of your game in motion some time . Every screen you post looks like commercial quality stuff!

@Dookie

Not gonna lie. Mountain faucet has piqued my curiosity ...

It's been a while since I last posted something here.

RTP.

^.^

YAY! I knew I couldn't be the only one messin' with the classic RTP. High Five!

I'm doing the same with my project. A little RTP with sprinkles if you will. It looks better with the screen tinting effect I swear!:

All the tiles are RTP with simple edits and a few pieces built from scratch. The torches actually animate. I edited it into a character-set by splicing the fireplace animation tiles with the brazier tile pieces. It actually came together better than I thought.

Ratty's Drawings and Other Artsy Things

I'm diggin those pixel arts too. Those face sets would really look at home in the old shining force games! Very pro quality work =)

The Golden Age of Game Making

Damn, I wish I had gotten on this sooner. By the time I saw the contest it was already Friday.I love mucking with the old school RTP. Here's hoping it happens again sometime. But in the meantime I'll check out games. I'm all about nice and short and sweet so this'll be fun. Big props to the people that got it done in such a short time!

[RM2K3] Using Pictures with Panoramas for Maps

Okay I got it now. I sorta combined what you guys said. I used Variables to lock/ center the image to the event, and that gave me a good starting point. I then used that x variable to sort of nudge the picture in place as it was off by 8 pixels.

And what Liberty said in the beginning works fine for overlays that don't have to scroll with the screen. So I'm using both. I don't know if this is the most efficient method but I'm not getting any lag, just the usual 2k3 "pixel shredding"

For anyone interested here's what it looks like

And here are some test images (Please don't mind the sloppy mapping and WIP tiles)

Thanks a ton guys! I really appreciate it

Make them the same size as the map, set to 0,0. Should stick just fine.

Thanks for replying so quickly! I actually tried that first one already. Made double sure they were the same size and set the coordinates to 0, 0 but it still anchors to the player.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but I confess I'm kinda newish to the program. The only time I've done this sort of mapping was on VX ACE

If not, try making an event and having a parallel process constantly 'sticking' the picture to that event.

This ... I have no Idea how to do.

**EDIT** I think I should have mentioned this earlier, but I'm trying to do this with a map that's larger than 320x 240. Is this possible?

[RM2K3] Using Pictures with Panoramas for Maps

As the title states, I've been trying my best to do a little "Parallax Mapping" with RM2k3 (the official English release). I've used the 2kdev tool to make panoramas of my maps, but doing the upper layers is frustrating. I'm using pictures for my bigger more elaborate objects but I can't seem to get them to stay put, or put them in the right place. Even when I select the "scroll with map" option.

I've searched for tutorials on this issue but most aren't as thorough as I'd like . (probably owing to the programs age) , are in another language, or are for another maker entirely. They also either focus too much on the mapping side of things without getting into the technical details. And when they do , they're usually speaking to someone who understands the program much better than I do.

Basically I would like to to know how to properly place a picture by getting the right coordinates (there has to be a better way than guessing) And how to lock that picture in place so that it's not stuck "on top" of the hero.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Also if you can point me to a tutorial on this subject I may have missed, even better. And hell, if this is actually impossible, well let me know that as well...

The Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic

Legends of CaranA - The Ring of Orion . Any body have it? I downloaded it a long time ago but can't seem to find that thing =(

Any one still use the RM2k Classic RTP?

don't tease me!

The official English 2k3 version is out!

Hey, I have a small question. Is there any possibility that we'd get a license to use the old 2k RTP resources. Specifically the tilesets. They seem to be the only graphic assets to not make it to 2k3, so I would imagine - since all the other 2k assets are in 2k3 - that it wouldn't take much to include them yes?. Or is it more complicated that I think?
