I know Roden doesn't actually want to engage in the thing.
But, realtalk, I will still do my, fairly regular, take on the whole "gamer as hate group" thing. It's been a number of years since gamergaters openly bumfucked the word gamer for everyone. And in the beginning I too was hesitant to go ahead and continue to call myself a gamer.
But then I thought: I've been playing games for thirty years. Will I let a bunch of whiny reactionary kids come in and take over what I love like this? No of course not.
Of course I also won't say "no, none of this happened, the people who did that aren't true gamers". It all happened. The assholes are real. We should do what we can to stop all that fucking hate.
But obviously we are just a cesspool of a community where everyone's a fucking useless jackass.

The "gamer" identity morphed into one of hate, misogyny and cult like dogpiling over the last few years. Anyone who's been on the internet should probably be able to see that tbh

Well it is a bit annoying if people destroy fairly old pieces of art when it could just be removed and stored somewhere and occasionally shown in an "exhibit of racist art".
I mean at the fall of the Soviet Union a lot of "communist hero" statues got destroyed or defaced and it is a bit sad that some of them will be lost forever, but it's also clear that not every single one of them needed to be preserved.
And it is also clear they didn't need to be in public places anymore.
EDIT: Also I read somewhere that a lot of the statues are actually mass produced garbage. So it's probably okay to destroy most of those.
