Hi I do art mostly but also do games.

Please read my comic, Patchwork and Lace. It's about a Lovecraftian Disney Princess dark mage and her superpowered undead partner hunting monsters and being bad at communication.

What do guinea pigs dream about? Probably not this, but just roll with it.

ETA: There we go!

Dig Dug guy is probably really popular at birthdays.

Making my first RPG

Well, good luck in your gam mak endeavour! Come back and show us once you've got some gam mad.

RMN Pixel Quilt

WE WILL DO ALL THE QUILTS

EVERY QUILT WILL BE DONE BY US

Actually, when we finish this one, we should start a new one with JS's patch because it's purty.

Maybe change the palette.

How the Heck do you Design a Town?

author=Desertopa
That might be the kind of game you want to make, but I don't think this is true of most other designers, except maybe by extremely narrow definitions of non-sandbox.

I appreciate good combat in games, but if I had to choose one or the other between a game with extensive thought and effort put into the combat, or a game with extensive effort put into the story and characterization, I'd definitely pick the latter, either as a player or as a designer.

I don't really think that's what was being said; the point as I read it was more about the role of a town, and didn't have anything whatsoever to do with character or story. Streamlining a game's design to focus fully on the intended gameplay doesn't mean tossing aside any sort of writing. (And I'd venture that story and characterization can happen ANYWHERE, and shouldn't be confined to towns or non-combat areas.)

Are there restrictions on games that can be hosted here? Specifically games aimed for more mature audiences.

I wouldn't delve too deep into brain-based explanations for the double standard, especially considering most of the free world has the opposite opinion to the US (sex and nudity: OK; violence: NO). It's a very US-centric thing.

And, anyway, the rationale behind it matters a lot less than the risk of big trouble from violating it. There are many great venues for trying to change culture, but I don't think RMN is really one of them. (Nor should it have to be.)

@Sooz: I dunno. If you're going for 'humor', seeing somebody running around on their underwear seems to be enough. Or maybe trying to cover themselves with their hands -if they don't need to fight back or anything- ...that would be quite interesting to animate, actually.

It's not a humor thing; the mechanic involves someone with Kitty Pryde style "go through physical stuff" powers, just with an unfortunate side-effect that it's ALL the physical stuff. It's a horror game, so the main idea is an emphasis on inconvenience and helplessness.

@Sooz: If you're using the default templates for characters (since they're not extremely detailed), it's not just women but also men getting naked and there's real reason for the nudity then there probably won't be an issue.

It'd probably be my own templates, and only ever happens to one character. I'll likely end up covering it somehow, since the idea of animating sprite nudity sounds like a lot of annoyance for something nobody should care about, beyond, "Well, that's really awkward and not ideal for an abandoned house full of creepy monsters." :V

If SEGA could port Sonic Spinball to Android then that would be great...

This is the truest thing ever said in all of history.

My personal interest is a semi-hypothetical one: I realised recently that a story I'd been reserving for eventual comicking would work better as a game, and said story involves fairly regular nonsexual nudity. It wouldn't really be visible in anything beyond eensy sprite form, but I tend to want to know beforehand.

And, y'know, it's always nice to get an idea of limits before I get too attached to a particular story or idea.
