todd from code monkeys: fat, socially odd, into medieval shit, and makes old school rpg video games. yeah that sounds about right.

What's up with the damn profanity?
author=Fallen-GrieverThey disagree with it because it sounds really really stupid. There might be some rpg maker games where it would fit but 99% of them cannot pull it off.The reason swearing sounds stupid in 99% of RM* games isn't because the swearing itself sounds stupid, it's because the writing is bad.
EDIT:
People disagree with storylines because they are really, really stupid. There might be some RPGMaker games where it would fit but 99% of them cannot pull it off.

Haha, I could do this all day.
Yeah I could make poorly drawn comparisons based on nitpicked messages where the context of one's statement is ignored all day too. Do you truly think that I am claiming a neutral phenomenon like vulgarity (or guns, fire, etc.) is absolutely bad in and of itself absent any qualifiers? That you explicitly specify that it is due to bad writing rather than leaving it open to individual opinions on why people subjectively experience displeasure while playing such a game (as I did) does not make you any more or less correct for having an opinion on "why something sucks".
Catching Up with the Past
I got some work done but I don't have anything worth showing. I'm hoping to finish the game this Summer. Work during the Spring is going to be very limited (much like it was this Winter) with planned periods of scheduled down-time when I won't be working on the game.
Unfortunately, there are also unscheduled periods like the past week or two when I haven't been able to work on it ie. medical reasons. Still, I remain optimistic about my projected completion date (Summer Season 2011)!
Meanwhile, I'll try to post some more info as I have it. Thanks for staying tuned!

RMN is not closing down, but...
author=Deacon Batista1. Commercial Premium accounts will be available.Who'd call this a good thing?
2. The forums - gone!
I know right? I'd have to find someplace else to shitpost and troll.
RMN is not closing down, but...
On April 1st, some people go with the "bad thing that's not true" ex. I'm pregnant, there's a spider on your shoulder. Others go for the "good thing that's not true" ex. You won the lottery, you're getting a raise. In the former, the punked is glad it's not true. In the latter, the victim is sad the prank is not true. Which one is this?
What's up with the damn profanity?
People don't necessarily disagree with swearing in rpg maker rpgs because they are prudes who don't swear in real life or irc or w/e. They disagree with it because it sounds really really stupid. There might be some rpg maker games where it would fit but 99% of them cannot pull it off.
It has nothing to do with whether games in the 90's had vulgarity or not. It also has nothing to do with some belief that people in medieval times did not swear. When I watched Spartacus Blood and Sand or Gods of the Arena I didn't think "OMG they cussed!1" because it was handled well for the period and didn't sound like a 14 year old bathtub farter wrote it.
And that's how rm games with vulgarity come off. So if that's how you want your game to look, go ahead. You can look to modern games like Bulletstorm and rationalize your gamequote about sucking a bucket of dicks but until your game looks like Bulletstorm, it will look stupid saying it.
