[rm2k3] Getting data from savefiles
@Kazesui Hell yes! I will check it out as soon as I am home. How does the tool handle the data? Any way to export it to a TXT file or something?
Weird Idea:
Now, all we need is a tool that is able to "infuse" data back into a RPG Maker save file and we can start building turn-based semi-online multiplayer games.
1. Player 1 acts during his turn
2. Player 1 uses tool to extract data and uploads it to webserver
3. Player 2 uses tool and infuses data into his save file
4. Player 2 now acts during his turn
5. Sequence repeats with Player 2 now extracting and uploading data
*insert megalomaniac laugh here* ;-)

[Plug-in] [rm2k3] Animated Monsters Plugin
Just checked it out, its a good start.
One strange thing: Idle and dead frames are shown, but the "hurt" frames do not show up, the images are there - the project does not crash either.

[rm2k3] Getting data from savefiles
Im also very interested in this. Tried to access the save files via notepad a while ago but its hopeless. I found some descriptions of how the save files work on the net, but not enough to understand them.
Once the schemata of save files is known, there could be a savegame editor for the rpgmaker (i bet i saw something like this somewhere).
BTW, im speaking of 2k3 here

Sprite Art Recommendations
hey everyone,
I need some art recommendations for one of my several dozen side projects :-)
In Short:
Im looking for animated battle sprites for both characters and enemies from a commercial, but yet lesser known franchise (i know this is illegal but i dont care, as my game will be completely free - if ever completed). Best would be a game on spriters-resource or somewhere else, as i dont want extract all the graphics by hand.
Do you have any idea wich lesser known franchise sprite graphics i could use?
In Depth:
One of my side projects is a battle focused minigame thats all about party combat, equipment and levelling up. Im using DynRPG and dragonheartman's Animated Monsters plugin (as well as some others) - so this is highly experimental.
So, im looking for good sprite graphics for the game. I need animated sprites (at least standing, idle and attacking) for both the player characters and enemies. I have not even decided for a theme yet, so it could be anything at least there are enough sprites and animations to represent a nice variety of chars/monsters.
As this is a combat only minigame, i would appreciate franchises that feature nicely animated battle chars. This game takes place only in the combat system, so instead of a tileset - i need as many battlchars as i can get.
I was searching on spriters-resource and a few others, but 2+ brains have more ideas than just one. so i thought i ask you here. one of my ideas was for example the battlers from "shining force 1-2/CD", as they are really well drawn and there are so many of them - sadly they are too big to fit 4 PCs and 8 monsters into a single screen.
finally I am using 2k3 and would like to get sprites in the SNES era style. And with "lesser known" i just mean: please no final fantasy! its just all over the place already.
Hope you understood my question.
Its a really simple question actually: Just throw any cool, lesser known franchise you can think off in my direction!
Thanks!

The Screenshot Topic Returns
Hey, thanks for the feedback guys!
@LockeZ
This is not a "explain your project thread" so i keep this short:
1. animations will blend with the rest later on, have not decided about final screen tone yet (sprites are modified VX, animations are from metal slug series).
2. Im using static backgrounds from old beat em up games (final fight / night slashers). i know about the size difference and cant/wont change this. just take it as a fun fact.
3. HUD explained
Top left green bar = life
Top right green bar = ammo
Bottom left "A" = Current Armor (empty in the example screen)
bottom left "CC" = Current close combat weapon (empty)
bottom 1-9 numbers = Available missile weapons (all empty in the example screens)

No items won't be limited, as I am using 2k3 and it seems impossible to me without complicated scripting in form of battle-events.

Woah, thats not just 1 or 2 but 3 potion shops! And i spot 4 more buildings at the edge of the map(possible potion shop 4 to 7 ?). :-)
Milestone 4: Character Selection
Milestone 3: Re-Theme
@mellytan Sorry to let you down, its just too complex for the moment. maybe when the whole foundation (graphics, sounds, music, battlesystem, gamesystem) is ready i could build a real "Fading suns" game on top of it. Right now complexity breaks my neck. I want to complete something and publish a polished game that is fun to play here. Not spend the next 5 years developing something thats too complex to be ever finished (and realizing this fact after 4,5 years wich would result in quitting the project).
