Pretty awesome stuff! Are we growing as a site in terms of pageviews and such?

Feld, our rpgmaker.net's Google Analytics showed pretty consistent month-over-month growth since we they first started tracking the measure a few years ago -- until recently when the Analytics info got borked in August/September. The increases have been pretty significant and have not been statistical anomalies, and surprise surprise the forums aren't the center of the universe (in terms of pageviews).

Mass Effect 3 teaser.

I loved Mass Effect and am currently playing through Mass Effect 2. I look forward to this epic conclusion and the teaser trailer really got me pumped.

MASS EFFECT 3: FINISH THE FIGHT.

It would appear Earth always gets invaded in the 3rd game in space marine trilogies...

I don't understand why RMN Snews is being dismissed as regurgitating information and content that is already familiar to most forum goers while pressing for the Featured Game to be changed so that it regurgitates awesome games that most forum goers should already know about. The staff went for a "hidden gem" this time around and they are being blasted for not validating the opinions of a few.

I'm not saying that the current Featured Game is not without its flaws (it isn't), but I see some individuals -- or a clique -- essentially inspiring a rebellion because their own preferred choices for Featured Game were not selected. There are lots of awesome games out there and someone will always be unhappy with the results. I see little advantage in trading tyranny of the staff oligarchy for tyranny of the masses... or even a non-staff oligarchy.

This is especially true when the anecdotal evidence provided as the reason why such a change is necessary is as flimsy as "these French RPG Maker sites... look down on you". We first having to assume that assertion is even true, but then we have to gauge whether or not it matters. There are well defined cultural and stylistic differences between English centric RPG maker websites and their French, German, Japanese, etc. contemporaries. I've seen lots of what I would consider rubbish on those sites too, but I would refrain from make a broad generalization about them and their users -- or trying to influence their inner mechanisms.

Furthermore... this site still has a functioning staff to heed this passionate rhetoric? You could have fooled me.

Why The Server Was Down

OMG RMN IS DYIN'

It's on Like Donkey Kong

Mitsuhide, I think we have had enough copyright infringement related takedown requests this month, thank you very much. No need to anger the Big N with your legally questionable topic title.

WIP, you have forgotten me. You have forgotten who you are and so have forgotten me. Look inside yourself. You are more than what you have become...

RPGs Through the Generations

NES:

The Legend of Zelda, Legacy of the Wizard? Hah, I didn't really play RPGs during this era.

Sega Master System:

See above.

Sega Game Gear:

See above.

Sega Genesis:

Beyond Oasis, Dungeons & Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun, Landstalker, Light Crusader, Phantasy Star III, Phantasy Star IV, Rings of Power, Shadowrun, Shining Force, Shining Force II.

I got exposed to a lot of RPG(esque) games thanks to the now defunct SEGA channel, which was awesome and way ahead of its time. I can remember missing some school to play Shining Force!

Super Nintendo:

Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Lufia, Shadowrun. This expands a lot more if action games with RPG elements are included.

Sony PlayStation:

Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy Tactics, Grandia, Legend of Mana, Kartia, Suikoden, Suikoden II, Vagrant Story, remakes of older Final Fantasy games.

By this time I was pretty much a Squaresoft fanboy and had also developed a strong preference for strategy RPGs â€" FFT and Kartia were two of my favorites.

Nintendo 64:

I never owned a N64, but my brother did. I played a Quest 64 and liked it. Deal with it.

Microsoft Xbox:

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Fable, Jade Empire, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, X-Men Legends.

I decided to go with the Xbox instead of the PS2. I got exposed to a lot more wRPG style games, including those by BioWare. I would eventually get a PS2… but never looked a jRPG the same way.

Nintendo Game Boy Advance:

All of the RPGs I played were either remakes of SNES/Genesis games… or Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, which was boring. I still played the heck out of them though.

Nintendo GameCube:

LOL.

Sony PlayStation 2:

Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII, Romance of the Three Kingdoms X, Suikoden III, Suikoden IV, Suikoden V.

For the record I bought a PS2 well after it had been released and got most of these titles out of nostalgia for my PSone days and never played them. Final Fantasy XII was pretty neat but couldn't hold my interest through the end.

Microsoft Xbox 360:

Blue Dragon, Dragon Age: Origins, the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Enchanted Arms, Final Fantasy XI, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2.

A nice mix of jRPG/wRPG games which was surprising after the last Xbox. However, Dragon Age and Mass Effect get played a lot… the others not so much. I actually played Dragon Age: Origins for the PC but am too lazy to make yet another list.

Sony PlayStation Portable:

Essentially all remakes and/or releases of older Sony PSone games.

tl;dr:

I have gone from a Squaresoft jRPG fanboy to a BioWare wRPG fanboy. <3 Morrigan.

Are you happy with how your life has turned out?

Life is pretty awesome. That is all.
