XP okay, that one was a dumb question... but anyway, my others still stand.

Miscellaneous tools...

I'm looking for a pair of free, reliable programs and I can't remember the names of the programs. One program translated RPG Maker 2k3 maps into jpegs, without the lines. Another, while compiling a project, scoured one's computer specifically for pieces of project related to the game being compiled. Does anyone know of these programs or reliable programs that could fit their description?

Also, information leading to a free .exe creator would be appreciated.

Thanks!

(Thanks kentona for helping me realize the redundancy and brainlessness of my last statement...)

Do you guys still acknowledge your early projects?

My first game was started in November 2004 and finished in February of 2005 - all completely screwy four hours' worth. It used various MIDIs from across the video game spectrum downloaded at vgmusic.com, imbalanced battles, and pretty much every default system one could imagine, save for the characters and a couple of renamed items. Heck, even switches were used sparingly. The storyline had little cohesion, and often you could skip major characters and go right for the final boss with just the first three people you faced.

My next project was started in 2006. I had developed one of the most detailed character creation systems I have ever seen in an RPG Maker game, period, even nearly avoiding using the standard stats, but I postponed it when my computer crashed in 2008. I plan on revisiting the concept later in a new version.

About the same time, I started creating a fan-game between Mega Man 6 and Mega Man 7. It featured a custom sprite built by one of my good friends, and intended to be a revisit to the bosses of all six original Mega Man games. It also had the beginnings of a sophisticated teleport system. It was claimed in 2008 with the computer crash, too.

I've also had several titles I never even started on in this mess as well, just titles I thought up for games.

Through this, between 2006 and 2008, I developed three different versions of "MindCage" and was unsatisfied with any of their progress. Each time, I would hit a wall and be unable to progress sufficiently enough. Then my computer crashed and these were lost, too.

All of these lead to the current, and fifth, version of "MindCage", my current work-in-progress.

What Happened Last Night

I will not make a judgment for or against either side, but it's always sad to see division like that. Yet, there will always be some pruning in any community. The best things can grow with a little bit of the right amount of pain. Time will tell if RMN is better or worse off.

For now, let's make the games we can and have fun with those left.

What are you thinking about right now?

What to write/do/think about/play next.

Uh? Do you guys listen to music?

I'm more into religious, cultural, classical, and heavy musics than the mainstream techno-pop scene. It's so ubiquitous that I find very few songs I actually enjoy. Sure, I dance to them because they have a good beat, but do I enjoy the music as a whole? Not really. I find Kanye in particular really annoying.

My main style of music is stuff like Metallica or KoRn in sound. Bands like Skillet, Thousand Foot Krutch, Demon Hunter, Red... I used to like Pillar, but their latest album... it didn't wow me.
My favourite classical composer is Mozart, though I do listen to a wide variety of others both modern and ancient.
I also enjoy traditional Celtic jigs and reels, traditional Japanese music, very select Indian tunes (most of them just annoy me).
Video game tunes and remixes are also welcome additions to my library.
And select hip-hop, the pop songs I do find I like, and little indie bands I discover, like The Product, who I found in college. They're not playing together anymore, but I do have their one CD.

Whats your favourite Manga/Comic right now?

"VGCats" (www.vgcats.com)
"Enker's Tale" (www.coloringdragons.com/enker)
"Okashina Okashi - Strange Candy" (www.strangecandy.net).

None update very often, but each of them has very different content.

VGCats is a single-page parody of different videogames and life situations, mostly starring titular characters Aeris (not an FF7 parody character) and Leo.

Enker's Tale is a story of a Robot Master's survival in the era of the Sigma Virus.

Okashina Okashi is an anime parody comic that intertwines various story lines in with anime references, some obscure and some more common.

Religion and the After-Life

An extension of my previous post.

In my eyes, God loves us a lot more than we do. To fully understand this, one must understand the concept of "free will". When I grasped the understanding and impact of the statement "free will", I began to see the immensity of this love. I have come to understand that a Christian can also use an atheist him/herself as proof of this gift of "free will".

This is my view on "free will".

===================================================================================

We have COMPLETE free will.

To control our emotions.
To control our actions.
To control our instincts.
To control our thoughts.
To control our love.
To control ourselves in whole.

-BUT-

Our choices are utterly final and irrevocable,
good, bad, or indifferent,
whether they are proven by lawful process or not,
and whether they are seen by a cloud of witnesses or by our eyes alone.

We also cannot control others without their willful submission,
good, bad, or indifferent,
whether they will help or hinder,
and whether they will choose the same way we will.

===================================================================================

The impact of this realization and letting it sink in has changed my views on a lot of things dramatically over the past few years, and God is still changing my views through this realization.

"To each his own..."

There is so much power in those words now.

Wars have started over less, I'm sure. Humans can be very petty creatures...

Even "But the role he is about to play will..." is better.
Either 'questionify' it, as Fallen-Griever suggested, or just switch "what" to "the" and get rid of "that".
