I first got interested in RPG Maker after watching X-Play do a review of RPG Maker for the Play Station. Years later I found RPG Maker VX Ace and decided to buy it. My first RPG Maker game, Dragon Lancer, was approved by Deckiller and became available to download on January 15, 2013.

I've been away from the scene for a while. Which maker will best help me make a game like this?
The many platform thing might be the one thing that forces you to use MZ.
Otherwise, any other engine is capable of the things you suggested.
I have used VX Ace for a long time and see no reason to upgrade. If you own the legal copy of RPG Maker 2003, then you can sell games with it. Unless there's a specific reason to upgrade, you should stick with what you know.

Tech you just need to pick who you think will win the cup for the chance at that one achievement. That might be the easiest thing for other people to do who don't want to submit for each round. But getting people to do it is another thing. I mean you could spam the front page with links to this if you were like the owner of the website......

I was sort of thinking about how the Toronto Raptors won the NBA thing and I was like, can the most hated team in Canada win the cup this year? And the answer came back yes! Just think how hard it is for a Vancouver Canucks fan to pick the Leafs. The pain of watching them win the cup will be so painful...

There's probably a couple of ways you could do it, but Gimp is the best place to try it. Scaling the image is likely the best solution. I would place both images on layers and see what the difference is perhaps. I'm sure there's a way to efficiently do this.
There's probably something in the game's code you could copy over from the front view to the side view to also get the job done, but I only use VX Ace, so I'm unsure.
