The RPG Music Challenge

^Win on the date thing.

I do have to agree though, it would be nice if it were a bit more clear when the music should be turned in. It took me a while to figure out when it was due, and when I figured it out, I turned it in early so I could be sure. I might have been able to get mine to be a bit better if I had gotten a bit more time... oh well.

Just a thought.

The RPG Music Challenge

After listening to some music by people who have done music before, I'm looking forward to Happy and harmonic's entries.

The RPG Music Challenge

Oh wait. I totally was an idiot and thought today was the 8th. Derp.

The RPG Music Challenge

Whelp, almost time for the voting to start, isn't it?

The RPG Music Challenge

lol, very nice. :P

The RPG Music Challenge

Fair point.

I would have thought that a layer is a layer, layering up multiple instruments in a DAW would be the same as using multiple midi layers to create a fuller sound, but that's just me being anal about the spec.

I'd have to say, that would eliminate a lot of instruments that a synthesizer makes, as I know several VSTi that layer sounds inside them to create a fuller synth, which is what I did. Oh well.

The RPG Music Challenge

True. Well, fortunately, that makes my case valid. :P

Not sure whether my song will qualify, it's just three instruments. The only rub is that the guitar is polyphonic, and I doubt a person could play it (though they might be able to). Oh, and it's all synthesized. I'm not sure whether the instruments have to be real or not (as in, instruments that could be played as opposed to synths). I hope so, because otherwise a 3-instrument limit would be extremely difficult for a fire temple. :< I used a ton of automation of effects on the pad and some automation on effects for the other two instruments (drums and guitar).

Any feedback would be wonderful, I'd hate it if my submission were disqualified over a little thing like that, as opposed to actually using more than 3 instruments (like some people did, as I noticed from the submissions that were up).

(Note, for those who don't produce music with a DAW, a layer in most produced music is a part of an instrument, not a full instrument. I took the liberty of layering several synth guitars together, playing exactly the same thing (for thickness) and same for the pad (for awesome), for the reason that it's one instrument, even if it has multiple layers (as in, parts))
