Mario's Musical Marathon
For levels with checkpoints, it's possible to cut the song in 2 pieces and use an event to trigger the shortened version at the checkpoint which may help it sync up when starting at a checkpoint. Not sure how it would work in practice.

SYSTEM SOUNDS! Any good sources for 'em?
It includes many system sounds from many games. You didn't specify non rips. I can't imagine it's easy to find decent system sounds on free sites.

The badges are awarded for completed games, not if they have a dark twist. Only thing you might miss out on is the judges pick. And of course there is the shame of not following the theme exactly.

Whatever else you gotta do to his stats to balance this is fine, as long as it doesn't make him irrelevant. Maybe give him something unique to electric types that would give someone a reason to use him. Maybe something to balance his shortcoming.
I didn't ask for everything. Just that he's fast.
