Finally working on getting my original VX Ace project out while I still can, then maybe I'll move onto an episodic MV project.
I'm just a dude who likes oldschool RPGs and never seems to have the time to finish making one :P.

[RMMV] Game will not save on Mac
...In case anyone was wondering, what I ended up doing was looking at the filepath given in the error, manually creating the "Save" folder where it should have been, then manually editing the permissions for that folder (requires administrator credentials) so that anyone had read/write/edit permissions for it. It seems that as a .exe program with an unknown publisher, the game was not being given permission to write new files in any location by default. I'm not primarily a Mac user and I did this a month ago so I don't remember the exact steps, but I figured I should come back here since it's unlikely I'm the only one who had this issue.
[RMMV] Game will not save on Mac
So I made a game, playtested it, ironed out a few silly errors I'd made, and saved a few times throughout, everything went fine on Windows. Then I deployed it to Mac, and it won't save. The game loads and plays normally, and the save menu opens, but upon attempting to save to a file I get the error SE. Trying to go to the options after frustratedly rapidly clicking on the different save slots triggered a crash with an "Unknown Error," to the effect of not having permissions for the "Save" folder in the Resource folder for the game. I have not yet been able to reproduce the crash. The game does not have any plugins or custom scripts running.
Is there any known cause or fix for this? Is it a matter of running the game as an administrator? (How do I even do that in a Mac OS?) Do I have to change anything about the deployment process?

2015 "Official" Misao Predictions/Discussion Thread
author=Sated
I'm waiting for a "terrible everything, but cute graphics" title to be picked up by a popular YouTuber over the next couple of months. I predict that said title will sweep everything because sheeple are stupid.
And no, I'm not joking.
I submit that the event you predicted will happen (or has already happened), but in the end nobody here will/has hopped on the bandwagon, and that the only benefit of the YouTuber's endorsement is the game suddenly being greenlit on Steam, where it releases to very mixed reviews and eventually goes on sale for a much more reasonable price than it was asking at launch.
On topic, sadly I had a busy time of it lately (and have a backlog going back 3 years at this point...), so I don't have much to weigh in on, but I'm betting April was a Fool and Brave Hero Yuusha pick up a lot of awards for their likable quirkiness.
Stuck on a damage formula (MV)
Stuck on a damage formula (MV)
I'm trying to make an enemy skill in MV that takes away MP, or hits hard if you don't have any MP remaining.
From what I know of the formulas from VX Ace, I should be able to do that by setting the skill to deal MP damage, then use something along the lines of:
b.result.hp_damage = (a.atk * 2 - b.mp * 999); a.atk*4 - b.def*2
However, when I use this formula, the attack never does any hp damage. For that matter, if I just make a skill set to b.result.hp_damage = 100 or b.result.mp_damage = 100, it doesn't do anything. Could somebody tell me what the proper notation is for what I'm trying to do?

RPG Maker MV announced for PC and MAC
Ok I laughed pretty hard at the JavaScript jokes.
So I was reading a couple reviews and I saw someone saying you could no longer insert commands in the event editor (i.e. if you want to have a character walk to point X, open a door, and go into a room, but forget the part where they open the door, you now have to delete everything below where they should have opened the door to add that part in). Is that accurate?

Heroes and Demons
I appreciate you doing the let's play and bringing the game some attention! I hope you had some fun and the jokes didn't fall flat :). Also I could have sworn I fixed the thing with the Dark Lord's Axe Dance special not displaying properly, but oh well. I'll have to take a look at that again later.
EDIT: Oh, looks like it's been almost a year since you actually did the playthrough lol, I guess it's quite possible I DID fix that stuff.

wait, what is it?
it's game over. how could that damn dumas, maiwaifu69 and the others to OP? how i could defeat them? that....
I'm not sure I fully understand your question, but the game was created as an entry for a contest. The rules stated that the game was supposed to be nothing but an opening, a boss fight, and an ending, so yes the game is over after the one fight. The reason you're as OP as they are is that (spoiler for people who haven't played the game):
you represent the final boss of the game and they're supposed to be a bunch of stereotypical players.
As for how to beat them, it's pretty simple.
Kill the healer first, then the mage and the hero, and kill the tank last.

author=Link_2112Haha nice!author=TheRealDMacFruity Loops does that to an extent, but certainly not as responsive as an actual keyboard. I'm the same way, although I can make up better riffs in a program. Then I could play them better on my big ass Yamaha synth keyboard.
After derping around for a while, I can honestly say that I could do in a day with a keyboard what it would take me months to do by messing around with score sheets and editing programs and that type of stuff. But I don't have a keyboard >.<. Gotta find software that lets me use the computer keyboard to play notes...
haha ok so about 5 seconds of googling led me here http://www.buttonbass.com/PlayerPiano.html typing my name sounds so musical~
Here's my ugly submission for now: http://rpgmaker.net/content/resources/101/downloads/This%2C_Too%2C_Shall_Burn.ogg
