The Staff of Cyrenia

Christ in heaven, what am I supposed to be doing in this town? Every time I try to leave, I get a message saying I should stay and... do something. I've been to every area of the map, entered every building, talked to damn near every person... You should REALLY give the player a hint towards where it is they're supposed to go.

You could also use a decent intro. And a title screen.

I have to give you credit for the gambling minigame in town, though. That's some pretty creative eventing.

I'm not sure who you would be offending? but anyways.. we express that people should use google to find scripts and such, considering they're not all that hard to find.
Considering we've got sections for pretty much everything else, a scripts section would be fine. RRR has a decent amount of scripts in the forums, but the more comprehensive databases of scripts there are, the better. And it can actually be difficult to find a good script that ties in with what you want.

What would RMN be like without the user above you

It'd probably be long dead.

Games that are popular but you haven't played

@Tau: You have to play Super Mario Bros. 3. It's the defining game of the 2D platformer.
Also the Paper Mario games. They were probably some of the best RPGs ever made.

What are you listening to?

Evil And A Heathen
Franz Ferdinand
You Could Have it So Much Better

What are you thinking about right now?

What the bloody hell happened to the podcast?
EDIT: Earlier today, someone named "TooManyToasts" joined the IRC and left. I'm confused.

8.3/10

I like it. What is it from?
If I'm not mistaken, MOTHER 3.
Also, that's a hell of a lot of games. 8/10 for the effort, but why would you make them in Paint when there are userbar generators that make them identical to that?

Challenging the Standards

Monsters dropping currency is an easy, if cliche way to reward the player for fighting. I'd MUCH prefer something that ties into the fantasy world and actually makes sense like what McDohl is doing, but having monsters carry around a pocketful of gold isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Does a script like this exist?

You could use variables. If you use event battles, set the variable up by whatever after "battle processing" and have a shop full of events that check if said variable is high enough to buy a skill, then reduce the variable by the cost. If you use random battles... well, maybe you could use a parallel process in each map with battles that raises the variable every time you win. I don't fully understand the parallel process, though, so I don't know if that's possible.
Remember, you don't need scripts to be creative!

Nowadays, I still use RPG Maker. Only 2003, because I've started making on it, and RPG Maker XP isn't better, like some users are saying. But i believe that's because I enjoy old school RPG too^^
Have you tried VX yet?
Also, post lots.
