Problem with an event.
I'm making a class selection screen at the beginning of the game, and I don't exactly know how to make it revert to a previous part of the event. I have an intro that explains the class system and 3 stages: character selection (selecting either Fas, Cassus, Ledo or Astus to select the class for), class selection (choosing between 2 classes) and confirmation (yes or no).
For example, I want it to revert back to class selection when you select "no" for confirmation. I'm not quite sure how to do this; it just automatically takes you back to the explanation at the start.

Mirror's Edge demo is out.
And it's fucking amazing. It's short, but easy to get into and very, VERY fun. If you haven't heard about Mirror's Edge, pull your head out of your stupid ass and listen.
It's a first-person platformer with a little bit of FPS action thrown in there. You can jump off objects, slide under things run along walls, run up walls, jump off walls onto ledges and the like, usually while dodging gunfire. The story seems pretty good from the demo and trailers; you're a Runner, an agent who delivers packages and information for criminals bent on overthrowing an oppressive government. Usually they don't go out of their way to catch Runners, they start shooting at you during the demo chapter, and there's some kind of conspiracy behind it or something.
I have to say, I absolutely love the art style. Some of the cutscenes look like they were made in Flash, and the 3D animation is very simple but beautiful. It's mostly monotone with important objects shown in bright red, and I did notice things getting more blue as it got more intense. The whole world has a slight clay-like look to it. The music is great, too.
All in all, it's simple and fun, but it's got a deep and artistic style. I can see myself playing this for hours on end. There's a Race mode too, but you need to pre-order the game to access it in the demo.
EDIT: Gameplay video.

Question about buying the full versions.
Are they bought individually or can I get XP and 2k3 free if I buy VX? I've been working on a project in XP, but I neglected to try VX as well. Now, id they're bought individually, I'll have to do one of the following four things: abandon all post-conception progress on Catastrophe and start over in VX, be stuck with an outdated and inferior version, pay $120 for both XP and VX, or resort to pirating XP. I don't really want to do any of these.
Of course, I'll try out VX once my XP trial runs out in a few days.

RMXP World Map chipset
Does such a thing exist? None of the XP chipsets in the Resources section would work for a world map.
Displaying faces with text
Is there any way to do this in XP? I've seen it done before, and it'd be much better than just using the speaker's name.
Dumb question.
How do I switch between full-screen and windowed in RM2k3? I'm playing Legacies of Dondoran, but it's in full-screen and it's shifted to the left so I can't read some of the text.
Problem with "set move route."
I'm using RMXP. Whenever I use the "set move route" event command to make the player follow a route, he'll move one square then stop dead in his tracks. The cutscene will still go on, but it looks really odd since the player character won't be in the right place. It still works correctly in events I previously used it in, oddly enough.
New guy.
I'm Josh MacKay AKA TooManyToasters. I found this place through a google search for RPG Maker forums since I was having a bit of trouble with XP, and decided to join. My Xbox Live tag is TooManyToasters (no I don't play Halo, but I do play a bit of TF2 and Shadowrun), and I might get a PS3 in the coming months, mostly for LittleBigPlanet.
In a nutshell, I'm a high school freshman and aspiring game developer with absolutely no experience or idea what I'm doing. I did, however, release a very short Super Mario World ROM hack with a crappy plot and decent level design. It's the first part in a series I don't care to finish.
