Custom chipset for a game.

Bad news... Neok in hospitalHey guys.

Automobile accent? What does that sound like?

What are you thinking about right now?

I'm mostly thinking about when I move out in the next 2-3 months and adopting a pretty cool stray cat that comes around.

Kind of sad to see the little guy fending for himself in the winter, even though we make sure he's well fed. He needs a cozy bed to sleep on when the blizzards start happening every 1-2 weeks.

Magix Music Creator

This looks pretty cool, and I'm surprised by how positive the replies are. I'd try this out in an instant, but I'm at work at the moment.

This sort of tool may be the sort of kick in the ass that I need to get motivated enough to just make something original for once.

A Day in the Life: Let's Play The Sims 3

Haha, this is pretty fun to follow. I've always found that reading Sims 3 stories like this one is more enjoyable than actually playing the game itself.

Gamingw.net gone?

In my opinion, the name change isn't as controversial or whatever as it's being cracked up to be. I took off from GW/SW after the name change, but not because of the name change itself. I liked GW for what it used to be, with such a fascinating and vibrant community that was full of really awesome people doing awesome things. The GW name was, to me, the last part of the original GW that was still intact. When the name changed, the entire identity of the site was something different, and that GW itself was now pushing up daisies. At least in my opinion.

Over time, the direction of the site was changed from a predominantly RPG Maker focused one to, well, one that encouraged all game makers but discouraged RPG Maker. I never understood this. There was never any valid reason for this change of direction, because there was no demand for it on the forums. Non-RPG Maker games were a tiny minority. I always said that everything should be treated equally at GW, which is something that the site struggled with when it was a booming RPG Maker haven, and something that it continues to struggle with as a site that continuously pushes RPG Maker into a smaller and smaller area of the forums.

I'm cool with RPG Maker, and I'm cool with every other kind of game maker. I never understood the whole push to get away from RPG Maker. It always seemed like, to me, the people wanting it to have less of a presence at GW did so because they associated it with being a child or a teenager or, hell, I don't even know. Just because it's easy to use doesn't mean that it's a child's tool. Sure there are many other game making tools out there that allow more freedom, but it doesn't mean that RPG Maker is a kiddy tool. I'm pretty sure I saw that said at GW a few times, and I really do disagree. In the right hands, very cool games can be made.

I think Exit Fate was mentioned in here somewhere, and that game was incredibly well made. Hell, I enjoyed it more than several commercial RPGs, and that is a colossal achievement for an RPG Maker game. Few freeware games manage that with me, because I'm very big on quality.

I don't even know where I'm going with this, but I don't think it's where I started.

Long story short, the new name was just another event in a long list of changes to GW that made it clear that the site would never be as captivating as it was before. GW was dead before the name change, but some people still just stuck around because it was still Gaming World, even if only in name. The change to Salt World was sort of like the final piece of the original GW being retooled to fit the "we like indie games..... but not RPG Maker" mantra that exists there now.

I don't know if I made any decent points at all, and I feel like I am just rambling at this point. I'm just going to stop right here.

Someone should tell Ludwig to stop messing around.

Yeah, but how would I make something move diagionally by pressing two directional keys at the same time? It doesn't seem to work if you just assign a direction to each arrow key.

The diagonal thing is what's bugging me most since not being able to move in eight directions is kind of a killer for a shooter.
