WIP'S PROFILE
I made this site and it's awesome. But I don't run it anymore. Now I'm just a plebe like you.

The Great Switch: Why VXP is Better
F-G, please take your "this is just a hobby" caveat and shove it up your ass and out your brain. Thank you.
The Great Switch: Why VXP is Better
Because he is notoriously stupid. And sometimes I wish he would just leave.
EDIT: To clarify a bit more, engine discussions are fun and cause drama. People like drama. Drama keeps people interested in a community.
As for the Great Engine Debate, it's ridiculous. Not because it happens, but because how fucking close-minded people are. You have people on one side who absolutely refuse to listen to benefits of newer engines (oh hello F-G). You also have people who will not shut up about it (oh hello Craze). You are both immature twats.

Super RMN Bros. 2
post=The Real Brickroad
You should make a level and show these whippersnappers how it's done, then, son.
And I will pick it apart like all the rest!
Well maybe I will, you big meanie!
Super RMN Bros. 2
I find it shockingly enthralling that Brickroad is trying to stop the travesty of Super RMN Bros. from happening again, and people are getting their feel bads hurt. Super RMN Bros was great fun from a community standpoint. But it is/was a shitty game by every possible measure.
Lowering your standards and finishing your game
post=calunio
Well, that's the thing... I don't think the site has low STANDARDS, but the things (some of them, the ones you're probably referring to) made here are below those standards. But not on purpose. I truly believe that almost every game made by people here ended up being not as good as the maker originally expected it to be. When we start working on projects, we all have these great ideas, but not always do those games end up being so great.
There is no other way to determine a standard other than with the data at hand. The data at hand on this site is a bunch of games. Most of these games are not good. So what can you say the standard is here? Not good.
I didn't read "I start with low expectations so the game goes exactly as planned" very often here. I already summed up what everyone is saying:
I WANT THIS GAME WITH MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF CONTENT THAT ENDED UP BEING PRUNED
Having a lot of content is never representative of quality. In case you didn't catch it from my first post, I am attacking your OP as entirely misguided.
Lowering your standards and finishing your game
I think this is the stupidest named topic.
This site already has a low enough standard of quality. There is no direct correlation between "more" and "quality". Your game is not automatically better because it has 30 NPCs instead of 5. That just means it has more stuff in it. Most of the people are talking about how they had to cut stuff, not quality.

active staff
I figure I will chime in here somewhat:
I told TFT numerous times that I never wanted rpgmaker.net to be "WIP Chooses What is Awesome.net". GW did this exact same horseshit and it's very childish and immature.
I also never ever wanted to elevate certain individuals over others. There is 100% nothing special about the staff. The site never really even had staff because it was never the design to have one. As Karsuman stated before, this site was ultimately made so it would "just work". It could be entirely automated. There doesn't need to be a king on top dictating.
To respond to Ciel's laundry list of complaints that the staff doesn't do something, a few years ago Mog asked to be part of staff so he could do things. Being part of the staff would allow him to do things a normal member couldn't. My response was:
You don't need a title to do something like that. All the things you complained the staff isn't doing, the staff doesn't have to do them because anyone can. Ankylo is an admin, but why is he expected to start a magazine/contest/whatever?
The staff for this site was built to make sure the site functions; not to make up for all the members (including yourself) for doing nothing and expecting someone else to do it.
