Yo Kodek, thanks for the heads up. Do you remember what kind of error popped up when you had that issue with Noire? I'm going to triple check several events, but knowing at least vaguely what the error said would be extremely helpful.

I've decided to add TP costs to certain healing spells so they can't be spammed into oblivion anymore. I've also decreased stormbringer's thunder boosting ability so it's not quite as OP. But geez, 1100 damage from one character?! People are finding combos more broken than anything I had anticipated! I'm curious what level Marcus was in that fight. But yeah, the bosses are getting slight HP and offensive buffs, and healing will become slightly more difficult to do in the next version. Lanith will most likely remain OP though, heh heh.

I'm thrilled you enjoyed the game enough to play it more than once, and I appreciate your patience in waiting for the sequel. There's still a lot to be done but I'll get there, don't you worry!

Thanks, I've got a lot on my plate right now, but I'm making progress. All the hanging story threads in Umbral Soul will be resolved in the sequel, so there will be plenty of individual stories and sidequests featuring the characters from the previous game.

As for your questions...
*spoiler alert*

Serene and her party can be found in the dungeon after you defeat her at the abandoned fortress. It's not so much that heores like Athena and Perseus are evil, it's just that they've been taught lies by society and are acting on those beliefs. They show kindness, compassion and selflessness for those they're sworn to protect, but they believe all things associated with darkness are evil, and therefore try to destroy them. Serene's party is a bit different, but you'll learn more about that when you play through her campaign.

Some of the sidequests become locked after you complete the tower of champions, and the capital is the point of no return. If you're having trouble unlocking something, feel free to send me an email and I'll tell you what you have to do.

Playing both sides would be tricky for the sequel since the battles are meant to have a certain outcome. To be honest, it wouldn't be all that interesting either.

TL made it through that boss just fine with some trial and error. It's interesting to see how different people use different strategies against bosses. It's always fun to watch, and I'm glad players are exploring the possibilities and coming up with their own solutions.

Sievn- Wow, that's a pretty amazing compliment. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it so much, and I'm going to try to outdo myself for the sequel. It'll be a lot easier to program without having to deal with 20 playable characters and implementing instant teleportation. Teleportation is a pain in the butt.

Still, it'll have other features that Umbral Soul didn't have, so it should still be plenty entertaining. I'm looking forward to sharing it with you.

Hendrick97- I hope you enjoyed playing as the baddies, because in the next game they'll all be punching you in the face.

OK, i have no idea how to get the two scenarios under below serene grace part 1, does anyone here know how to get them.
Great game btw, i enjoyed it up to this point and i am about to start the final battle.

Spoiler warning

All ye who seek surprises, turn back now.

After you've completed the water temple, head to the dungeon and speak to Serene to unlock the next scenario. If you've unlocked that scenario and completed the vampire sidequest, heading to Pandora's room will unlock another scenario. The window of opportunity for those two scenarios closes once you defeat Serene at the abandoned fortress, so if you have a previous save before you did, try reloading that one. There's no prize for unlocking all the scenarios in one playthrough, in case you were curious.

And thanks, glad you're enjoying it!

Don't feel bad, that's one of the hardest fights in the game. Although I do find your struggles amusing. Dang, I've been playing my own game too much...

Umbral Soul

No sweat, I never could've imagined it would be received so well! And yeah, you'll be playing as Serene's party in the next edition's bonus campaign. You'll be able to learn how her team came together and what trials they had to overcome in their quest to save the world.

Khawla- It's a piece of cake. Just click the "Download Now" button at the top right corner of the screen. Your computer will download the file, which should look like a blue octagon. After the download finishes, click the octagon and the game's resources should be copied into a folder. Open that folder and click the little red dragon head, that'll start the game. If you need any more details, please let me know.

Sphere- Ah, that's not the first time I've heard that question. It's immensely flattering that people would consider something I made worthy of the steam marketplace, but turning this into something that could be sold commercially would be an absolute nightmare. I'd have to swap out pretty much all the resources; facesets, music, animations, scripts, the whole shebang. I didn't really limit myself when it came to using anything I could get my hands on, so if I were to go commercial I'd get my butt sued by at least 12 people.

Besides,I consider myself a hobbyist and reading statements like yours from players who are enjoying themselves is more than enough payment for all that hard work. Yes, I know that sounds like an incredibly cheesy line only a character from a hallmark channel movie would say, but it's how I feel.

You betcha there'll be more. I had a blog up detailing what'll be coming next, but it was replaced with the current blog after I had an emotional meltdown about having this game featured.

Basically, I'm going to finish a joint project I'm working on with a friend of mine, then I'm going to release an improved version of this game. It'll include several bug fixes and spelling revisions, as well as additional content such as new sidequests and scenarios. It will also include an entirely new campaign where you play through the story as the heroes. After that, it's on to the sequel, which I'm pretty excited to share with everyone.

Hedrick, Nedras, thanks for the kind words, hearing that people are having a good time always motivates me to work even harder. There'll be plenty more games coming from me, so I hope I can provide you with even more entertainment in the future.

I think I might have an idea. Some anti-viruses delete the game executable for some reason (it's the little dragon head. If you've downloaded any other rpg maker vx ace games, you can copy the dragon head from there and paste it into the project, that should get things up and running.

My anti-virus never had a problem with it, but I'm going to create a new executable for the game's next version to see if that doesn't fix the problem. Please let me know if you have any more issues.

Yyyyeah, mapping is definitely my weakest point. I used to be a lot worse at it, but I learned by analyzing the mapping in other rpg maker games. There's still plenty of room for improvement, but I'm hoping to get better as I go. Practice makes perfect as they say. Thanks for sharing, it's always encouraging to hear when someone is enjoying themselves. Now off with you! You've got a world to conquer and insects to crush!
