WHEELMANZERO'S PROFILE

Just a guy who loves rpg's. Thanks to some serious encouragement from several new friends and the community at large, I was able to complete one of my own. Game making is my favorite hobby, so you can expect more games on the way. Play on fellow gamers, play on!

It's alive! Aliiiiive!

Misao = Fin

This is so much more complicated than it looks, but I like Liberty's second idea. And it's not a fangame dag-nabit!

Look on the bright side. One day soon, you can say to your grand kids:

"Are you playing that BrainBoxStation again!?? Back in MY days! We had to MAKE our own video games! By HAND!"

Can't...type. Laughing...too hard.

Talking' About my Inspiration

Yeah, I'd say the abundance and accessibility of games makes them feel less special and valuable these days. *sigh* Talking to you guys makes me feel old.

Misao = Fin

Funny story, attention actually makes me nervous, hence why this handy paper bag is always at my side. Umbral Soul has more support than I ever thought it'd get, so it'd be great if other games were to get the spotlight. I assume if a game wins in a category it isn't eligible for, the Misao goes to the runner up, right?

Talking' About my Inspiration

I was a bit late jumping on the rpg bandwagon myself. The first rpg I ever played was pokemon blue. I remember being so psyched when I managed to catch a Pikachu in Viridian forest. I was significantly less psyched when I realized I had the worst team possible for fighting a group of sentient rock creatures. I was more into platformers than rpg's as a kid, so I never played the classics such as the early Final Fantasies, Chrono Trigger or Dragon Quest. I'm looking forward to that FF7 remake so I can finally play that game!

I haven't played as many rpg's as most gamers, but that actually turns into an advantage when it comes to remakes. Now I can see what I missed from the 8-bit era without hardware limitations holding these games back. That's probably why I love rmn so much. Well...that and all the free games, because who doesn't like free stuff? The idea of improving classic style rpg's and cutting out poor design decisions tickles my fancy, which is why I was drawn to your game. Thanks for sharing it with us, I'm certainly looking forward to its completion!

Misao = Fin

This is my first time actually following the Misao's. Are they usually this...tiny? Only a handful of games were nominated for anything.

Umbral Soul

Thanks for the kind words Adalynn, the world definitely needs more villain games in my opinion. There's a lot of untapped potential to be had.

Misao = Fin

I always figured "Sleeper Hit" referred to a game that looks great but doesn't have many downloads. But best Fangame? That one got a good laugh out of me. The way the Misao's are set up seems to be designed to draw attention to various types of games across the board and get people to play them. Speaking of which, I need to play Frogge's game and find out just how insane it is.

Playlist added to initial post for nominations.

Wow, RMN was pretty quick to turn this over (last year it was several days after the 31st before voting could start.) No official cut off date for voting has been set.

Some personal thoughts:

Umbral Soul getting nominated for Sleeper Hit of the Year and Most RTP Award.
I hope despite the apparent goodness of this game people don't vote for it in categories it shouldn't be in. That's just my opinion.

Seriously, I would hardly call 4k downloads a sleeper hit. There's only a handful of maps that use rtp tiles as well, and they don't even come close to the level of skill I've seen in other games. It's flattering and all, but having a game win in a category it shouldn't even be considered in would be meaningless. Let's all try to vote fairly people!
