Have you considered being more interesting?
This article is a God send. Thanks a lot for this! I also heavily agree about the advertisement bit. Sega fans this year were disappointed by a falsely advertised Sonic game. They got us all hyped up to see "this and that" but ultimately failed because they took our expectations and tossed them into a volcano. Like you mentioned, hype isn't a really good idea if you can't live up to what you're advertising.
Platform Tutorial Series#1:Basics of Jumping and Movement

Thanks for the tutorial. It really helps having someone direct you in the right direction. So Thanks again for the tutorial!
Anytime man! I've been meaning to create more of these, I just have to categorize all of them. There is a bunch more to learn, so there will be plenty more within the year. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Fan Masters Part 8- Lufia
author=Dekar_the_Greatauthor=edchuyLufia V actually started as a RPGmaker2k game, but I later ported it to 2k3... the game's battle system was drastically altered as it was once a turn based game and now features an ATB system.
Interesting that they all chose to use RM2k3 to make their games ...
If I could port the game to RpgmakerXP or higher, I definitely would, but unlike 2k -> 2k3, I would basically have to remake the entire game, and that is not something I'm willing to do at this point.
However, if I DO make a sequel to Lufia V (which I have all planned out) it will most likely be in XP or higher.
So, RPG maker 2000 allows you to make non-ATB battle systems? I did not know that. Its been a while since I updated Lufia VI because of school and computer issues, but that has all been resolved at this point. I can start working on Lufia VI, but It will be easier if I create the characters first.
Fan Masters Part 8- Lufia
This was an enjoyable read. Hearing the responses of the other 3 creators really inspired me.I am officially out of high school as of June 4th,so I can finally work on Lufia VI again.
@edchuy
RM2k3 is really easy to use and beginners can catch on to it easily. Also, its free:)

So you want to be a game developer?
Thank you for sharing this article. I was beginning to lose hope for some of my projects, but this makes me want to push forward. I've read articles about how to make certain game genres (Specifically Platformers and RPGs). You've basically said it all and this would be a huge inspiration to anyone who is designing a game for the first time or above (regardless of genre).
You probably know of a game called "Fantasia" on here and I am having some development issues. I have too many Ideas, but I'm afraid if I add too many "Features" in the game, I'll lose sight of what my priorities are and it will be a huge, unorganized mess. I have too many resources such as....
and I'm not sure what to eliminate or save for other games. Before reading this I thought about cancelling it(Which I really don't want to do after how deep I am into it).
However, reading this really made me more knowledgeable about developing a game.
Whenever I feel down about a project's design and development, I'll remember the time I read this and revive hope for them. Thank you very much kentona:)

Game Maker Platforming Tutorial
This is a really helpful tutorial:) Thanks alot. There arent't many people who use game maker on this site, but this would be a good tutorial for beginners. Currently on this site there is a Platforming game called Fantasia, it uses similar coding and this could help improve it.
Hopefully you make more in the future.
