Haha! The thing about rmn (internet) arguments, is that they're all about who is racist, sexist, or otherwise the scum of the earth. Those who are the targets one day, take aim the next. And all without realizing we're just standing next to each other on the same numeric scale.
And from where I'm standing, it's only getting worse. Sure, in one hand we say that discussing difficult topics is welcome, but in the other, our 'tolerance' for things is slowly dwindling. As it stands, some topics are off-limits; Some words are not Ok to say, regardless of context; Games that years ago would have been accepted, no longer are; Cliques become more pronounced, and people's block-lists expand; and so on and so forth... I don't know, maybe I'm just being paranoid. But sometimes I worry. How long before this site loses the "culture war"?
But aaaanyway. I hope the thread gets re-opened soon. It would be a shame to see it go (and let Liberty have the last laugh). xD

Perfect valentine's song
I would identify as a 'Gamer' except that I don't hate women, so I guess I am not a 'real' gamer.

Honestly, before we can work on anything together we need to actually rid society of the stupidity that is hating other people...
Yeah, I think this is at the very core of all our problems. Not just people 'hating' on other people, but people treating other people differently. Period. Some people treat others worse, some treat others better. Some do it because of their race or gender, some do it because of their politics. And yeah, I suppose we'll never get fully rid of it... I suggest we all crawl into a hole, curl into a ball, and die. (Haha! That's another lame joke for the collection. xP)

Talking about peet-peeves and stereotypes. Yeah... I understand that a status post (or anywhere on rmn, really xD) are probably not the right places to look for thoughtful conversation only -sometimes people just want to vent a little or engage in some small talk- but it is somewhat of my concern that some of you can express opinions so biased, so one-sided, so black and white...
I'm not a "gamergate-r" so I'm not here to defend the movement, but I think we could all benefit from gaining a broader perspective of it, beginning by stop dismissing it under the unison of: "misogyny, misogyny!". If not only because not each one of its members can be a bigot by association, specially since many of them are women and members of various minorities (who often times are the targets of unscrupulous remarks themselves) But because we would be throwing ourselves under the bus in the long run...
It is unfortunate to see gamergate gaining such momentum having as its roots the alleged 'sexcapdes' of a female game developer, but it is also unfortunate having to forfeit that momentum because of it... Even if another movement where to come out of this -"Ethica" as Liberty suggest we call it- there would be threats there too, and there will be little to nothing we could do to stop it. And then the media would pick that bone and run with it, and we would have to forfeit that movement as well. And the next after that, and the next after that. Just like every other concern regarding game journalism was drowned amidst similar drama even before gamergate.
So, to reiterate my point. If this is really a "war" like some people claim it is. let's win that war inside each one of us first. Be fair, be understanding, be a bunch of other nice-sounding words... Let me propose all of you an exercise. Go read a bunch of article about gamergate coming from both sides. If you're able to spot the bias, catch the buzzwords and logical fallacies in all of them, then you're fine. You, my friend, are the future of gaming, and I have my entire faith put in you. And if you can't... welp! =/

GIRLS JUST WANNA MAK GAM.
O.M.G. O_O And I was just listening to that song in a loop because I'm basing a character's design on Pop stars from the 80's...
Get out of my head!!! xD

Bought Bravely Default for something to do during the night after work, only to be completely put off by it right away. 40$ just... Flush.

Not pressuring you to play more or anything, but... I usually hate grinding and I'll admit, BD has plenty of it. However, it makes grinding so easy that I almost feel enjoy it somehow. Just turn encounters up as high as possible and set everyone to Brave 3 times and use normal attacks or weaknesses and boom, everyone's shot up a couple levels in 5-10 minutes. Plus it gives you bonuses to EXP and JP for getting through the battle in one turn or not taking any damage, which makes it go a LOT faster. So uh, yeah.
That sounds pretty cool indeed! Too bad I find the whole "kiddies save the world" thing to be a bit overdone for my taste. That, and I don't own a 3DS =(
Sega Sataan, Shiro!
I guess you could sign me up for the "Retro-fag" club, but more out of convenience than anything else. If I had the kind of moneyz to buy a current generation console (or even a past generation console xP) I would... But in the mean time I'm perfectly happy playing second-hand, 10+ year old games in the middle of 2014. Oh, yeeeah! 8D
I got a Gameboy Advance a few years ago, but I've pretty much played all the good games already, so I'm looking into other old consoles. The Sega Saturn was (is?) among them, but besides the Panzer Dragoon series I don't think there are many games on it that I could enjoy, or that I could get a copy easily. Instead I've been thinking of getting a Dreamcast (surprisingly, they're about the same prize), if not only for games like Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue, two titles I hear a lot about.
That Saga Saturn video is awesome, btw. xD

so, like, just so you people know
lol. You just made the exact same post up there, and the same back-handed insult a few pages ago... Give it up. I'm not gonna bite.

@Solitayre: Dude, what is wrong with you? Why do you keep reading the words you want to read instead of the ones I'm writing down for you? Did I not say: "you don't have to antagonize that person" in my previous post? So where then do you come up with: "instead of being contrarian pedants and forcing the person into a confrontation" as a response? Because I can't tell if we're agreeing on this or if you're assuming I'm advocating this behavior... Also, I'm merely asking from others what is being asked from me.
@Slashphoenix: You and I are more in tune so I'm not going to dwell on specifics, but you too made some wild assumptions about my post.
_
Anyway, if I've not been able to make my stance clear by now, there's no point in going on endlessly about it...

@Solitayre: This isn't about "permissions", where did you get that from? I could likely say I don't need anyone's permission to say or do anything I want! Sounds bad, doesn't it? ...All I'm saying is, is it really that much to ask for two sides of an argument to compromise?
Also, I already do that (to a degree I find reasonable anyway), but that still grants me labels such as "passive oppressor", so... *shrug*
