Dungeon Design
Yeah, with some tweaks this is definitively article material. Maybe you could expand a little each step, or maybe combine some of them for simplicity's sake. I don't really have an issue with the way you have them here, though, I'm just saying...
Anyway, I find it amazing that you actually sketch your dungeons on paper, take notes and such. I never find time for that kind of thing, I prefer to do my 'sketching' directly on the maker, and hey, if I can't remember something on my own it probably wasn't worth to write it down in the first place. Heh; ...I guess my process relays more on the "Improvisation" aspect, but eh, I manage. xP

Aesthetics aesthetics aesthetics...
I think I know what you mean with the elevation issue, the river appears to be at the same level than the ground and hence it looks flat. But you know, since it's supposed to be paper it doesn't really look bad... The pop up effect looks really cool btw, but you'll probably need to apply it to all/most elements for it to look consistent. Or it would be nice for inorganic objects such as the bridge to pop up not on their own but on the character's command, by pulling a paper strip or something. =P
Anyway, it's always a pleasure to see these updates of yours... Keep it up, man!

Ars Harmonia Chapter 31 Out!
Heh; If you don't mind me interfering... Anyone who is interested probably already follows your off-site blog, specially considering the frequency in that you make these announcements. Anyone who is not interested don't really have a reason to be because all they see is the exact same blog over and over. But it doesn't matter if people is interested or not, it's not about them. It's about your responsibility to put out thoughtful content. Just a line of text and a link doesn't cut it, that's basically spam.
What's in a name?
I think anyone would believe the cast of main characters to be this "Company of Hearts" even if they're not a formal group or something. If anything, the title sounds kinda cheesy but I don't see how it would require your story to go a certain path.
"End of Epics" doesn't tell me much, though. Maybe that there are no more epics? That the game is out of epics? Mmh...

Going over to the dark side
I dunno, it may be a gamble... How well known is your game? (I just found about it ^^;) That right there may be your biggest obstacle. You'll probably need to pay for some publicity in order to get it noticed, and that of course will be another expense that you have to be certain it'll pay back... The game looks really nice, though, I was looking at the screens just now and there's lots of interesting stuff on it. Also, people from outside RM communities don't really care about the RTP, so you may have a good chance...
If I were you, though, and after coming all this way, I'd just release the game for free and maybe ask for donations. (Donation buttons in game profiles may be a reality someday) You can always make your next project commercial; Putting into practice all you've learned from the first game and taking advantage of the fact that people already know the quality of your work.

A nice little catch.
Doesn't sound too bad, but I'd be good to listen to some other examples. Right now it sounds like you just added some extra steeps to the old-fashioned 'stumbling upon a bunch of money' which may or may not be a good thing. ...If said pickaxe were a part of your inventory, useful in battle or to solve certain puzzles, and on the plus side you could use it to dig in some places and get money, it would be a mechanic more ingrained into the gameplay of your game, and thus more fun.
The Current State of Rhukaat II and What The Future Holds

...but making it overall harder would be a big task this far in development and I really don't want to do that. So, I figure a good solution would be to release a separate version of the game with the overall difficulty raised significantly.
Wait, how does this works exactly? Aren't those two the same thing? ...Anyway, if there's a not-so-difficult way for you to adjust the difficulty of your game it think you should do it, but I don't see why would you want to have two different versions of it. Wouldn't it be difficult for you afterwards to develop both versions simultaneously?
Oh, and if you're taking the trouble of doing it the 'difficult' way, you should do it the 'right' way while you're at it. Either by carefully balancing your game from beginning to end, by adding a 'choose difficulty' option, or, I dunno, something else...
This is it.
Well, this is rather sad news. I'm not much of a fan of fan-games, but it was still nice to see FF5 getting some love for a change.
But you know what they say, "never say never". Maybe someday you can pick this up again, or maybe doing something better...
Either way, best of lucks to you, man. =)

Well sorry about that, but I was talking more on a general sense. You're not the only person I've approached regarding this issue and some of them are newbies. I don't pay particular attention to profiles or anything like that, but perhaps I should...
And at this my point my gripe isn't really about your game hogging space. What it's done it's done. I'm more interested in making sure that this doesn't happen again. That's why I'm willing to engage in conversation here. To reach an agreement.
But sometimes I don't know why I bother. You either haven't fully rationalized you posture, or you're just willingly taking advantage of this site lack of specific guidelines. One is worse than the other... I'll let you to think about it. I'm outta here. =P
Edit: I wasn't ranting. ;_;
