AFTERMATH VX - Version 0.4 Review
1. Max also left a review indicating his problems with the boss, at level 3. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.
2. Drak stated that he should have been at least level 4. His own video shows him at level 5.
3. He's indicated previously (if I'm not mistaken) that he's increased the difficulty on that boss, so perhaps on the previous version you could be at level 3, but there was no way that'd be possible in this one.
4. You're right, we shouldn't need to test weapons, but that's exactly what I had to do since all the weapons missed equally the same. I don't give a damn what it says about accuracy, all weapons I used missed 50% of the time. So beyond that I guess it's a matter of testing all my mutations until I have the right combo.
5. Regardless of the accuracy, it should never take so long to level up a character. 1/2 hour just to get to level 2. Multiplied by 5. 2 and 1/2 freaking hours in the first dungeon?
6. I'm not sure what this back and forth rant is going to prove. I refuse to alter my review and I stand behind my score 100%, so let's just move on.
7. Drak's fanboys really need to get a life.

Is Aftermath Version 0.3 way too hard for you?
My issue wasn't with the difficulty with the battles. The battles were balanced enough to create some challenges, but not without a winnable strategy. My issue was that in order to have a chance against the rat, I had to fight 2 1/2 hours to be at level 5, and that my characters missed so much, regardless of the weapons I had equipped.

Drak, I like how you completely disregarded the fact that it took me 2 and 1/2 hours to level up 5 times, which you practically need to be at in order to kill the first boss. Even then, I nearly had my assed handed to me.
Accuracy aside, I'm beginning to think you do not accept criticism well, and my only regret is that I even tried to offer constructive feedback. However, I do not have time for a whiny game developer that gets his briefs tied up into a knot whenver somebody has something negative to say about their game. As far as I'm concerned now, I could care less if this game ever gets completed. Continue to lash out at the people trying to help, and you may find very few willing to play anything beyond this demo, if they even get that far.
In any case, it's time for me to move on. So ciao!
Edit: One last thought, I do take issue with the fact that you think I'm completely clueless. I've been playing role playing games ever since the very first Final Fantasy, and I know some games require a learning curve. Yes, I did use the mutations, and they helped to some degree, but that takes MP, something I'm very selective on using, and attacks during normal battles should not miss much as they did (especially when equipped with a varying degree of weapons). I apologize that I was not willing to invest 5 hours fighting in the same area just so that I can buy the expensive guns you think I should have owned.
As for Vincent and his lightning power, yes I did use it, but little help it does against the first boss when there's a bunch of rats chomping the heck out of my team and Vincent's lightning magic hits random enemies. The boss rat has a hefty amount of HP and calls a second round of rats halfway through.
A learning curve is one thing, a random luck of the draw (as this game seemed to be built around) is another, and makes for a poor game design.

AFTERMATH VX - Version 0.4 Review
2.5/5 is average. 3/5 is a bit above average, which I personally felt with this game. Quite a few developers would love to get a 3/5. It doesn't mean I hated the game, but that I felt there were areas that could be improved upon.
I applaud Drak, however, in that he did improve upon his first demo, which does indicate he does consider the feedback he's given. Again, this only reflects my views of the game, whereas others may not agree.

That may be true, and I don't fault some weapons having better accuracy than others, but all my people were equipped with different weapons to test which ones worked better, and they still continued to miss half of the time. As for guns, there was no way I could afford purchasing them at their high cost, unless I was willing to invest even more time for level/gold grinding than I already had.
So basically, in theory, you'd either need to spend the time to purchase a set of guns, or stick with the "crappy weapons" throughout the demo. And even if you managed to fight long enough to purchase the guns, that would only help one person with more accuracy, while the others still missed half their attacks, unless you bought them all a pair of guns.

Drak (if you don't mind the shortened name), while there were a few things about the combat that annoyed me, the 2 main concerns that caused me to give such a low rating was due to my attacks missing so much and that it took me 2 and 1/2 hours to get to level 5. And maybe that the rat boss, as well. I did enjoy the visuals, though, and getting around the menu wasn't a problem.
As for the end, it wasn't that it didn't make sense, but I think I over read the comments in Max's review in that I had come to expect something greater than just the villain's brief introduction. But I'm sure more will be revealed in upcoming installments.
One suggestion, if you are looking for a way to leave the lepers in and still make it a challenge. You could add in a piece of equipment (maybe an accessory) that prevents stun, however the downside could be that defense and agility is greatly lowered if this accessory is equipped. This allows you to keep the challenge, not having to alter the battles or force the player to find their friends before engaging in combat, and still leaves it up to the player to strategize. By equipping this, they won't be stunned, however battles may prove a bit harder for them, so now they have to think and decide what's better for them: equip the accessory to avoid paralysis but hope for the best against the tougher enemies, or risk being stunned but go into battle knowing you have decent defense?

I hate this "feedback" bullshit. You are writing a review. Don't pretend you're teaching anyone jack shit, especially when what you're really doing is telling someone how you want their game to be. You want a game made your way, make your own goddamn game.
What really pisses me off is "target the majority of your audience" garbage. No, when you're making a game for fun, when you're doing this as a hobby, you have absolutely, positively no reason to appeal to anyone audience. The gameplay might be unrefined and the backstory is fucking ridiculous (I cannot emphesize that enough), but it's Drakiyth's game and he can make it however he damned well pleases.
So...y'know...when writing a review, let's all just stick to writing a review.
First, Drakiyth, I enjoyed your game. My suggestions were no more than that, and I hope to see more of this game.
Now, please excuse my rant against Cameltoe Macbeth over here.
Camel... er, I mean Macbeath, I'll make you a deal. When you get the authority to force me to write a review the way you think I should write one, I'll quit telling people what a fucking 'tard you are.
I never said I had all the answers or attempted to teach jack anything. Heck, I don't even know a Jack. I merely offered some suggestions of which he can choose to accept or not. Yes, it is up to him. He may not agree with me, and that's fine. However, contrary to what you may actually believe, a lot of people who post here are looking for feedback, and my review offered that. Don't like it, take your own half-baked third grade logic and either don't read it or, if you can manage the proper English skills, write one yourself. Oh shit, what a fucking concept!
But I have to ask. Aside from trolling other people's reviews and bitching about people and their ideas, have you yet written one good review for this site, or even posted anything worthwhile? Have you done anything good for this site at all, or has the garbage between your head managed to spill into the internet so that it consumes unwanted space wherever you go?
