Dark Destruction

Ah, somehow I missed the "Cancelled" status. Oh well, I'm sure it was still a learning experience all the same.

Dark Destruction

Better late than never I guess. Played through most of this demo, and while it seems intriguing, the battle system feels bogged down and buggy. First, unless I'm missing something, I cannot use skills outside of battle, so curing and healing comes from restorative items. Second, by the time you get into the cave beneath the castle, your equipment and weapons start showing their age, but very little options to upgrade. Finally, after my characters got to level 11, no matter how many times I tried, I kept getting a weird error after fighting so many battles that kept killing the game.

I'm not sure where this stands in terms of progression, but the battle system really needs to be tweaked to be more playable.

Aside from that, the story sounds interesting and the mapping, while not great, is far from being horrific.

Patch 2.3b

Excellent, I'll have to continue this playthrough. One thing I'd like to ask though, is it possible to make the drinking contest easier in the BTLC section? I read somewhere where at least one other person had problems with that, and for the life of me my fingers just don't seem fast enough. Am I doing something wrong... other than being slow?

Back from brief absence. Dev is coming along nicely, plus Patch Notes. (UPDATED)

Sweet. I like expansion packs a lot more than sequels.

P2R Blog #2 - Dungeon Design Slumps

I like that idea for the water area, DBAce9Aura. I'm frankly tired of the whole water rising/lowering puzzle, because I find them tedious and overused, but the idea behind the rate encounter increase makes it a bit different.

Fire breathing statues, where you have to time your moves... another good idea to change up the cliched fire dungeon. Maybe add in a few extremely hot rooms where the player has a time limit to get through before they die of heat exhaustion.

Out of curiosity, since you appear to be adding additional content, and the end of the game hinted at future installments. Are you planning to add sequels to the game (as in separate game files), or will you be going the "Tales of the Drunken Paladin" route and just adding to the game until it's complete?

Either way, once the 1.1 is completed, I'll make sure to play it through a second time.

Intelligence: Net-Ready!

Yes, it does bump it up when a new DL is posted, but unlike other sites, it bumps it every time there is even a new posting, regardless if it's from you or somebody else. So... while it does make it convenient, it also means you are in competition with other games getting similar bumps (sort of like a bumping war).

On the other side, you're over 40 dl's now, so it appears to be working.

(Tech) demo released: Please read.

You know, this game may end up being more popular than the EL series.

Calling All (Or any...) Mappers!

A bit of a late reply, but you may want to post this game out at RRR (rpgrevolution.com) in their Long Demo section. I find that site generally offers a lot more feedback and recruitment, and hopefully once a wider market sees how much of your game has been completed more people will be willing to assist.
