Old/Lost RpgMaker Games - SegNin's Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic

author=LordBlueRouge
What I originally wanted to do was - whenever a user placed their mouse over a download link, a screenshot of the game would pop up,(similar to newground's flash movie portal):so they can see what the game looked like before downloading it.
...
Right now, I'm not quite sure how to do this, or even if RMN's forum/bbs code allow for display image on link hover. But I would like to incorporate screenshots into the list, in some form, later on - just not here on RMN's forum. - it's just too much work for one person to continually manage and update alone.

I see... Well, I do know that this can be done by using javascript, I believe it would turn out into something like these:
Pure Javascript Example: https://www.w3schools.com/code/tryit.asp?filename=FIHTWEJJIJMW
JQuery Example: https://www.w3schools.com/code/tryit.asp?filename=FIHUVBMRQCXV

But other than that, I believe that BBCode is not gonna help us much. There may be some FTP alternatives like TGA mentioned.

When I originally rehauled this thread a few months ago, I just grabbed everything I could from original forum thread that Darken started 8 years ago and just started throwing games under letters. Most of the file names of the games I did find were stuff like "untitled 1" or something - (which is why I put brackets around the original file name, in some cases) - before creating the torrent, I want to create a proper filing system, because as this archive grows, it's going to become very hard to differentiate between certain games, versions and platforms - TGA has been doing most of the legwork in acquiring most of these games (he's been downloading games from various sites over the years in his spare time, which is far beyond the work I do and in the previous thread, a lot of games that popped up were from his collection - even SegNin mentioned in the past that TGA had a bigger collection than he does, because TGA not only collects games but different versions of the same games as well)

So I would like to stick to something that's easy for him to use and manage, but also something everyone could very easily identify with and add to his work as well.

Indeed, TGA also mentioned something about this in this post. Well, the filing system could be done in a lot of ways, we could for example use some database to make not only filing but also classifying and searching easier, then it could turn out into something like VNDB, or perhaps something more simple like a Wikia page. If we could make something simple that allowed users to upload and classify the games that would be great.

Most of the links on the MasterList on RMN will remain the same, but the actual winrar files, when you go to download them, will be renamed to, something like:

(GAME ENGINE) GAME NAME (DEVELOPER) (GENRE)

That seems like a pretty decent way to classify the files. No objections here! :)

EDIT: Also, the problem with games that require RTP: Games such as Don Miguel's Adventure (the sample RM2000 game) and DOOM's 5 require RTP in order to run. Would you guys like for me to convert these game, so they can run without rpgmaker installed?

I think it`s a good idea although it`s not top priority right now to do this. Besides, you are already busy and this might take you awhile to accomplish.

Old/Lost RpgMaker Games - SegNin's Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic

Well, first off I wanna say its so sad to see so many good games go to waste like this, which is why I tried to contribute with SegNin's previous topic 7 years ago. Needless to say, I'm not a very active member, but I want to contribute to the RMN community with some of these old games in the list, as I did back then.
Okay, so here I have some links related to communities that may help:

Some currently active Brazilian Communities:
Condado Braveheart
Centro RPG
Aldeia RPG

Old/Gone Brazilian Communities:

Mundo RPGMaker
Dungeon Makers
Maker Universe
RPG Menace

These are old communities that may hold some old games in the list which I will be trying to find and upload later on.
Next there is this awesome contribution by Vash at Condado Braveheart:

Baldy's Big Day
Bluegaia: The Demon and The Spyglass
Bob's Big Adventure
Dragon Destiny
Eternal Star
Extrenia: The Messiah
Lord of the Rings RM2k
Mugen Legends: Hokutomaru
Naufragar Chapter 2
Rotten Apple Ninja Strike (RANS 2)
Tarion Star: Call of the Blade
...

And some more.

I believe that we should also store these games alongside some in-game screens since often times people do remember the game, but not always they remember their name.

If I may ask, I would like to know if some brazilian games could also enter the old/obscure games list. I think that RMN has been a common reference in many RPG communities world wide and that some gems should definitly be preserved. I also agree and support the idea of uploading these games in some private torrent / cloud storage, since most of them would fall under some copyright infringement.

Tales of the Drunken Paladin: Version 3 Review

I dont really want to be agressive against this review, but the title would make much more sense if it was:
"Tales of the Reviewer that certainly didnt know how to organize a review accurately".
This basically shows how you should NOT put a review.
I also disagree with your review, and again,i think this game deserved reviews above 2 stars, but not above 4 stars.
But thats just me,right?

Tales of the Drunken Paladin: Version 3 Review

I agree with db84x,Solitayre review was too underrated, not saying that it was the worst review, but,it should have at least 2.5 Stars.
His review, basically says,if i did understand everything he said, this:"Well,i didnt like this game mostly because of the walking speed,RTP and the Humor,so its a 2/5 at best."Which i totally disagree, but, since its his opinion,i cant argue that, because everyone has his,so i hope there are a lot of
"5/5 Stars reviews",because, even if its overrated,it at least makes the game look more worth it.Even if the game deserves at max a 4 star.
A Comedy game is much more dificult to do than a serious game, you can make good cliche serious games, but can you make your game original for once and put some comedy in it?
Also,if Solitayre wants so much that people look more at the content of his reviews, rather than his stars,i think he should start to realize that the stars are the summary of his reviews, and that they are way important than a 20 lines wall of text, not saying this was the case, but you can see what i mean.

Legacy of the Guilds

Well,i dont know why theres no music, but about the inn,you could make another one after you enter the last town in the demo, but make sure theres an event that opens the inn only after you talk to the guy on the basement of the fighters guild.

Legacy of the Guilds

Hmmm, theres no music in all of the maps.
Now,about the game:
a)Theres only a few battles, but thats because its a short demo.
b)The game is a little hard,as i have 22 hp and each of the bees take 8 damage of it,Noish only does 3 to 4 damage and a critical of 7,and the reward is incredibly low,as you only win the bees wing and if you sell it,it gives you 1 gold, that besides you cant sleep in the inn.
c)I think that in this demo the writing was good, but the demo is too short.
d)The cave is short and the enemies are even harder,i have to hope that they cast anger or im dead.
I think that the bees should have more speed and less atack, either that or put rats in the field instead of
bees. And put something that makes a full recovery for all the party, like in the save point, that or make another inn.Besides these things i think theres nothing wrong,so...good luck making the game.=P

Legacy of the Guilds

Uh,i had some problems in your game,i cant change the name of the first character,i may even change it,
but only the first message shows the name i had put before, after that the name changes back to Noish.
And also,theres no music.=/
Edit:It seens that if you add the first character BEFORE changing its name, then there is no problem neither in his name or in the messages.

The Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic

Thanks again Segnin, the demo of tarion star i had was even older.
Now im looking for the most recent demo of Saint Seiya Densetsu.
But this time i dont think i have the demo.
EDIT:Nevermind,i found it.Thanks again anyways.
Edit2:Uh,its just a sugestion, but maybe there should be a link of RANS2 on the first page.
