The New Earth Review
Aw, cmon. You did a good job. As for the rest, it's like Erik Erikson says, "I am nobody but myself." I could try to apologize about the game and/or shameless plug thereof, but frankly, I'm not really the type. I believe in serving my reviewers, so if they comment on something, and I like the comment, what IS me, is that I try to fix it.
Btw, it's not a shameless plug about THIS game (which sucks), it's on the NEXT one...
That of course, makes you feel SO much better, doesn't it?

The New Earth Review
Ah well, nothing new, except a more level head thing than the others (telling me my game need to be sent straight to Hell was one of the others, so everything short of that sounds like high praise).
The opening art I swiped online from an abstract painting or something. Credits were in the beginning, because I wanted to cite what I used while it was actually fresh in my mind, since from beginning to end was a rather long space. Plus, in movies, you don't normally dive right in, you have "lesser credits."
Hmmm, come to think of it, the money given could be 1/10 of that and still be generous.
You mean you can't reverse the letters in your brain? I thought everyone could do that.
I actually did that fountain from multiple facings. It's just too darn big, so you know someone will mess up it. Plus, I may possibly have done a few Above Hero parts.
Actually, there's a crapload of music (mostly stolen, cause I can't compose my own stuff). I dunno about the "it's all RTP" though in my latest update, I think I dragged all the RTP over just to be on the safe side.
Not that it'll improve the game rating any, but I'll make a minor fix now. It should fix the beginning credits, the overhigh money allotment, the lufia music (second or third mention), saves, and dammit I really need to remove the thing that causes instant death to normal characters (flaming still dies that way though, too bad). This might turn it from a horrible game to merely a bad one.

Dragon Hunter Review
Yea, I myself have given the "But you didn't play far enough" on some of my games. But it didn't even include ANY rtp stuff, not just the main game RTP (i.e. NO original matter, not to mention not being ready to play is a huge NO in my book). Then when I got ready to play, I couldn't play more than 10 minutes before having about the sixth scene change tossed in the middle of nowhere, before I developed a serious case of laughter-induced motion sickness, and had to quit for my health.

Rofl, the description is so damning, and the first comment I hear is "I want to play this game!" But, yea, I have an URGE to play this game.
Dungeon Quest Review
Wow, now my feelings are really hurt. My game was worse than this...
(Or maybe it wasn't, considering two different ppl rated)
Seriously, why are the graphics so bad? I have decent stuff on my 2k3. Btw, AdventureQuest is currently displaying on my ads as I type this. And yea, I hated it.

Love and War: Act I Review
Oh that's right. The other thing that impressed me about the graphics/effects was that they were that good for 2k. I always thought 2k was rather limited, since around the time that they had it, the tutorials I saw were stuff like "how to open doors" and "how to use switches." Gosh, that stuff is HARD, lol.
Love and War: Act I Review
Not really all on the same plane. But it gets a pass. I typically do "Pass, Okay, and Fail." The typical average 3/5 game would get an Okay in every category, the typical 1/5 would get a Fail in every category. It's a roughly done average system based on vague ratings. Having graphics that look hand-drawn rates well in my book, as does having well individualized characters in gameplay. I typically hold that the character is defined not just by what they say but HOW they act (in battle). That said, so far I've gotten to the part where Juno got knocked out cold, and the plot seems to be very good. It's just that after nights of pulling by hair out over crazy bosses that are too hard for one level, and too easy 5 levels later (30k damage to 0 in some cases), game balance is extremely important to me. The bosses and such were hard while being doable.
Love and War: Act I Review
Ohhhhh... I thought that there was some sort of automated system that said "Nope, that review is no good, so I'll leave it Pended for awhile." :) Yea, I think kinda weird. I brushed on the plot, but mainly that it is coherent (considering my game was rather not in that regard, this is all I really felt I had to say). It passed since there were no problems with the plot.
It wasn't the fact that the stuff was exceptional. It was that there was alot of stuff that if I were writing the game (glad I'm not, or it'd suck), if I didn't know how to do it, I'd just try for the simplest way rather than going into full code. My code can be good, but I tend to favor Common Events. The way you did some of the stuff, just kinda fit together. Also, I might be kinda easy to impress since alot of games in Rpgmaker.net are demo, RTPless, or sometimes have kinda bad glitches (Hero's Realm I think it was called, I was impressed with, until I used the Witch, and had a creature I summoned effectively prevent the win condition, since it didn't know when to bow out).
My reviews are usually subjective. What keeps them at all objective is my rating system, which I kinda developed from taking film critique classes, and later used to determine the quality of restaurants. I usually start at a 3 (average) then rate by categories to +/- from average. And I usually add (arbitrary) limiters, like if it doesn't have this, it can't be better than a certain rating, or if it does have something it must at least earn this rating.
