It's getting set to ummm ambush you. Too bad the player knows about it.

Oh yes, definitely. Windows 8 computers need to be thrown out the window.

By popular demand (sorta), my newest update will add some menstrual spells. Most of them will be sorta raw damage spells, but Azrael has a basic "monthly cycle cure" spell (since she's an effect magician, sure, it makes sense for her to undo stuff just like that).

I'm also adding in weather-related status effects, like dust for a sand/dust storm, and chills for cold weather. Along with various medicines for such conditions.

I'm not sure if I agree with the assessment of losing powers during a woman's cycle, especially since research shows that paranormal activity actually increases during menstruation. It's one of the things that's studied as a way of debunking ghosts. The big problems with proving the existence of ghosts are inconsistent evidence and results that cannot be reproduced. In the study of poltergeists, one of the things that is actually observed is that activity that can be documented is often in the presence of a child in puberty, more often female and that activity increases with menstruation. Activity is characterized by an increase in electrical phenomena. The objects that allegedly fly around the room are metal or have metal in them (consider the anecdotal stories you've heard about things being thrown at people. "I was in the kitchen and suddenly the pots and pans started flying at me." "I was in the living room and picture frames started flying off the shelves".) Light switches flip on and off by themselves, lights frequently flicker and go out. Apparitions caught on film, if not faked, could possibly be the result of static buildup affecting the light.

It should be noted that in hauntings in which activity can be documented, activity often heightens in the area of electrical equipment and in several cases, high activity occurs in buildings in which the electrical system was improperly installed and poorly shielded. The presence of chemicals and mold are also largely responsible as these things can adversely affect the senses. Now, I'm not saying I don't believe in ghosts. I do. But when I was doing investigations, I found that there was very little that actually couldn't be explained with simple science, and activity often increased in the presence of young teenage children and menstruating women. I am actually convinced that psychic power increases during menstruation. It's control that decreases. A more accurate depiction here might be a lower success rate for spell casting, meanwhile bizarre random effects occur without warning throughout the fight.

It's not so much "losing powers" as "having trouble concentrating." Spells take concentration. My sister has explained menstruation to me. It's... not fun. In terms of lunar cycles, well maybe. But we have several forces at work here, one of which is that although powers may increase, they may also increase out of control. As in, the inability to focus spells into a neat formation, means you basically only can use huge bursts of mana (trying to cast fireball, and you instead get a long stream of fire that burns the enemy and uses all power at once). Then there's the fact that while menstrual cycle is like a mini-moon phase, it doesn't necessarily coincide with the actual phases of the moon. I also kept Ambrosia's daughter from getting this, since she's a preteen.

Yes, exactly. I could do something where standard spells all grey out and you have some sort of 100% MP spells. I'm going to see if I can update/save my game soon, and update this a bit. I hate this stupid update issue.

Oh god, it's not just a NSFW fanfic. It's a Sailor Moon fanfic.

With respect, I think there is a fantasy world equivalent of Midol as a consumable, and pads as an equip, so it is not that big a deal. They do go on with their lives, it's just a condition that the game programmed in to work with the calendar. I wanted a calendar condition, and that's literally what I could think of first, being a giant perv (btw, the cycles are no longer in sync, so they are not all disabled at once). I could probably even work in a random "cold" and "flu" season if I wanted. If I could ever get this game to update. At this point, I can't even take it out.

The lunar phases has been done (FFIV: After Story, I think it was). The cold thing, yea, that would be okay too. I wouldn't know how to get it to "spread" though. The reason I latched on this was because (1) it encouraged gender mixing vs "well the women have the best magic and the best immunity armor" (they do) so why bother with the guys, and because (2) the gender balance in terms of characters generally favors women (there is almost a 2:1 ratio of females to males in the party). While you could conceivably do all-female parties, I wanted there to be some kind of risk system in place so you'd swap out the party periodically (you can't have an all-male party either, because Ambrosia is an insistent leader and refuses to leave the party), and (3) it does sorta make sense (if I were a woman and I was $*@%&ing tired, headache, cranky, and bleeding out of my crotch, I'm pretty sure if spells took concentration, it would be gone). Granted, yes colds also work ("Abraca...achoo!") but I think colds happened in Earthbound, along with heatstroke.

I'd ideally like casting to have a percent fail, versus outright fail. But yea, I can't update, so it's basically stuck.

Well, men in my game cosmos are more physical and less magical, so it still sorta makes sense. The rationale is that these hormones are distracting them, and while not necessarily weakening them, that sort of distraction makes it difficult to cast spells.

No, it's "Yeah..."

Actually, though, this passage reads just fine.
