Video game genres that will eventually die in the coming years.
author=Raekwonthat's a bit of a contradiction to say genres are fading (and i assume you mean 'pure' genre, whatever that is) and there's a lack of innovation - surely lack of innovation would mean no change.
As I was saying, these genres are fading, and as Prexus said, there is lack of innovation in many areas.
plus while you say fading, i'm sure most think of as improving, or at the least...tweaking

you can't exactly define a 'pure' any genre because genres are there to be shaped in favour of your game and audience, so they pretty much can't die out. i think you might be taking the 'evolutionary,' theory too literally.

well obviously i get that people can and do still post art and videogame topics, my point with the healthy discussion bit was that there wasn't really a need to get rid of them like there was with moronic. idk i just thought it was organised better with the seperate forums. but yeah, i mean i guess it makes sense if you want the site to revolve more around game design, i just didn't see any problems with including the other forums too

I don't know...i'm finding it hard to see the pro's in deleting these forums. Apart from moronic (which i, and every other user, can fully understand why it was purged) the others generated healthy discussion and it was easier to navigate.
I'm kind of surprised the responses have been so positive; i can't see what's good about merging 4 forums into one. Don't get me wrong, i'm not massively against it, but i wouldn't mind more clarity on why it was decided (other than the moronic fandango). So people focus more on the game developing aspect of the site, perhaps?

these games are pretty inspirational, i was thinking of doing an...'arty' (in the weird sense, not the lots of art sense) game when i have more free time, but my concepts are always a bit shaky or half-way-there.
