Emo Require: Do RPGs need a story?
author=InfectionFilesyeah, sorry, i was kind of counting exploring places outside of the 'storyline' part of the story...kind of in the same way i see social links in persona 3/4 part of the story.
I'm sorry, the main storyline of Fallout 3 seems quite short in comparison to many other epics.
i guess my argument would be a bit invalid if my view of the story is different from everyone elses haha.

looks great! I would actually suggest using even darker lines/a bigger colour difference between the light and dark parts on the trunk because it still looks a little bit blurred, like there isn't enough contrast.
the leaves look cool, the lighting is perhaps a bit iffy though. umm...take this as an example:
the leaves on trees are usually done in sort of...blocks, and then shaded to that particular block. You've sort of shaded as though it's an entire ball, making it look more like a bush on top of a trunk than a tree.
you don't have to change it according to this though, i can see that the leaves must have taken a long time to do. it looks pretty good the way it is, just some feedback :)

@Lockez People can define RPG's as much as they want but the fact is, the target RPG audience expects it to be storyline focused. The gameplay aspects of RPG's are, i'm sorry, usually mediocre - without a story to pick it back up it would just be dull.
There needs to be a mix between the two because i personally would not be able to play an RPG just for the gameplay. I get bored enough running around tartarus for half an hour, if i had to do that for the entire game with little storyline to back it up or look forward to, fuck it.
You're jumping to pretty big conclusions assuming that just because Darken doesn't think the gameplay is the strongest part of an RPG he must hate them.
It's not the same thing expecting a fighting/FPS/racing game etc. to have a good storyline as expecting an RPG to have a good storyline, because it's the nature of the RPG genre. You can go into semantics about how it shouldn't be, but it is.

no problem. the screenshot looks very cool, you're probably right in that it wouldn't fit if you got rid of the outline. i would suggest less blending in that case and more blocked colours, particularly on the trunk.
i'm finding this hard to explain, i would do a quick photoshop to show what i mean, but i'm using someone elses laptop right now haha.
seeing the screenshot i wouldn't worry about changing it too much, or the style could look inconsistent.

the outline is very harsh compared to the rest of the picture.
you could neaten it up a little and add some more, less blurred, detail to the tree or you could get rid of the outline and use the colours of the tree as a replacement instead - for example extend the lighter colour on the trunk to the outline instead of the dark colour. there would be less of a contrast this way.

author=Yellow Magici've been wondering that for a while...i don't want to have any regrets, but i don't feel like i'm heading in the right direction at all.
wonder if I'll ever forgive myself for making horrible life decisions...
i like to imagine my life will turn out OK enough for me not to have to think about it.
i wonder if this is a feeling a lot of people our age have or if some have lived out their lives perfectly enough not to ever feel this way...maybe i'm just depressing.
(actually i did rly badly in a test i can't re-sit today so i'm a bit bitter haha)
