You know, I think I agree. This whole tachie issue is giving me headaches again staring at tiny differences. I don't even know which version to use any more, much less which is the most recent. I think it's even starting to encroach on my ability to be creative O_o. Let's just use what we've got, and I'll put on the finishing touches, and call it done, mm'kay?

The website is still up, yes. However, there's not much going on there right now, because it's been a while since there's been a finished character to post. My own character, Yoshimura Noriko, is about 95% finished, and will presumably get posted there when it is.

Why the heck would you say there was a fix when there wasn't one?

This might be...well, half my fault. I was going through your tachie and Dozen's tachie looking for whatever fix he said he made to the eyelashes. The only substantive difference I saw is the one I mentioned above (color bleeding over onto the right eyelid of the Unfriendly tachie). I don't think Dozen ever confirmed or denied that was what he fixed, specifically. I just assumed since he never denied it that it was, and now he says it's not. Gah.

Also, as I never even touched the unfriendly pose, I have absolutely no idea what you two are talking about.

Oh. Okay then. Thought I had it, because the issue that I saw was not in your tachie. So, then, the eyelashes of the right eye in the unfriendly pose ALSO need fixing in addition to...whatever you did before :-/ .

New version of Yoshimura Noriko uploaded. Tweak to the Masako debate event as mentioned above, plus a new dating event (bringing the total number to...two, not counting the Diner scene). Also, nearly done with the random event responses. I've got everything pertinent now except the Personality advice sequence now. Kind of stuck on what she'd ask there.

Have not changed tachie yet (waiting to see what Marrend conjures), and...well, the big bugaboo, music. I haven't even figured out what kind of music would be appropriate. I think I just don't play enough games :-/ .

Can you explain what you mean by a dynamic date? I'm not sure I understand.
Sure. I just mean having a date which has more scenarios (list of events), choices for the players (branches of events), interaction possibilities (not only a +/- response, for instance).

Dates are one of the major goals of the game, and deepening this aspect (without making the game too complex) would improve gameplay experience (and even storyline management, maybe).

I haven't really been following this discussion, but it's got me to thinking.

As it stands, in addition to the dating-event-specific game mechanics, dating events can be written exactly as school events. Granted, whether you hit one like that is dependent on choosing the right location, because nobody's likely to sit there and specifically write a dating story for, say, the Convenience Store just because the player might pick it as the date location. Still, the option to do that is available, and such stories do exist. Complaining about lazy content creators is pretty much going to get you nowhere, so I'll assume your complaint isn't about that.

That means that anything that gets done on that side of the equation would require the introduction of additional new mechanics that are exclusive to the dating events. I'm intrigued by the notion, and would be very willing to participate the discussion as well.

So, I'll throw out the obvious first question: What kind of new mechanics do you envision, and how do you think they will improve the game?

I would prefer to make the alterations on the PSD (make a copy of the layer just for back-up purposes and all that) rather than do them on Dozen's PNGs. I'll have to look really hard to see if I can't detect what he did to the eyebrows.

N.B.: eyeLASHES, not eyebrows. Just so you don't suffer the same headache I did, it's specifically in the "Unfriendly" tachie (which appears to be using the "Closed2" layer for the eyes), on her right eye. The issue is that in your version, the lash color is bleeding over above and below where it should be.

I read the scene with Masako, though that was the original version, and it might have been updated since then. Anyway, yeah, she'd bring out the logic and the evidence backed up by competent, authoritative proof. Though, she would not be particularly happy with Iwao bringing the emotional friction he has with Noriko into play.

I don't think this scene has changed much during that time, at least not w/r/t Masako's appearance. I will add in a line with Masako glaring daggers at Iwao on her way to the podium.

Given Iwao's current characterization, the way I see this having gone is that, given that she's a transfer student, and that Iwao is not the type with which she'd socialize, she's only seen him in the debate room to this point. Since he's had no reason not to be confident in this setting before, she's not seen this side of him until now, and it's established by now that he knows his stuff, debate-wise (there's a fairly new scene where it's stated that Iwao is the one who taught Noriko the ins and outs of logical argument).

Sometimes I wonder if I think too much about this sort of thing, but when I write a character, I'm going to write it well, no matter the medium. In order to do that you really must think about these things. Dozen really helped there, too, reminding me of what this character was supposed to be when I started the process.

...and now I'm rambling :) .

Not sure how I got a double post, but there it is!

Marrend, my appreciation for your efforts goes beyond words. Thank you very much again. Just don't forget to pick up Dozen's eyelash fix!

BTW, you never mentioned what you thought of my use of Masako in Noriko's story. I want to make sure you feel she's properly represented. I was at one point kind of thinking of having Masako "appear" in a scene, but decided that I didn't want to require someone to have Masako installed in order to use Noriko, and if someone didn't have Masako installed there would be no reason to show her anyway.

(OT: STILL dealing with the personal fallout of my two-plus-day Katawa Shoujo playing/viewing marathon. That game is near-pure win. Would love to discuss it via PM or whatever with any interested parties. KS forums are too filled with legacy-osity for me to fully wade in over there, but that's what I get for being almost as late to that party as to this one.)
