I don't want to insult anyone. So don't get dishearted about what I'm about to say.
Even if you have poured your heart into the story and it's character.
If people get's distracted by things they see in the game from the storyline. Maybe it is worth to look into?
If you want people to see the meaningful messege.
And as you said, if people can't get past the graphic it will be meaningless.
But by just doing some small changes you could drastically improve the way people look at it. The least you could do is to define the edges of cliff's.
If anything I said was insulting I apologize, I just wished to give you a few heads up how to improve the game.

I spot pillow shading in the pixelart. The trees, cliffs and roof are the one most sticking out.
I suggest check out a few old masterpieces for reference. Like final fantasy 6 or seiken denetsu 3.

You should work on a four frame as well (just in case), I don't think many will work with six frames, unless you're making everything for them..

Oh the template is already made. I finished it years ago. But I wanted to fix it up a little ^^
the template has male, female, child. old man and old female.^^
But I wanted to release it with a few characters first. instead the template alone.
Of course I could give out the old npc's I did back then^^
But since I improved over the years I just don't feel good releasing them without a touch up =3
So I would say... I'll probably release them somewhere in january when I've lots of free time^^
The template even had isometric views as well. But I don't think anyone use that here^^

Even in boss battles, I'm thinking that maybe there will be a even harder one later and then it is when I really need that high elixir.
So usually I end up only using them for the last boss XD

I gona release the template when I have remade every rmvx ace characterset.
So there will be a lot for you guys to play around with.
I also gona add a few new ones as well^^

Well I was thinking to fix up one of my older templates and release.
Togheter with a remake of the rmvx ace rtp.
Perhaps even older rtp's and/or a complete new set of characters.
And I was wondering if this is something that anyone would be interested in?
I made a few samples of the template that you can see here.
Here you can compare the orginal rmvx sprite with the one remade with my template.
The template also has.
- Sleeping
- Sit, back,front and side.
- Suprised
- Angry
- Fainted/dead
- Sitting up from layind down pose.

But I can make a simple 3-4 frame for people who don't feel to work on so many frames when doing a new character.

Not being a graphic artist or 3d modeler, I can't offer much more on the model than "looks good". I'm sure a lot of people plus myself would like to see a dressed, completed character before offering any major C&C. Especially when you're going to be replacing vibrant, colorful sprites.
1. well it will be around 120 - 200
I only did a quick estemate last night XD but probably will be over 120 pages haha.
Still that is only the main story dialouges with happy ending. then you got the bad ending.
Side quest etc. :)
even with only the main the game should probably be around 20 hours.
With is enough for me :)
I want to be able to finish this game XD
My other main project dragunbane was so big that I needed more help to finish it and yeah that one the storyline was 100 pages written and that still only being scrathing the surface XD and thats why I'm working on this instead of that one at the moment.
