Debugging! Yay!
I always liked the ability to "Ëquip" summons w/ summoners having various bonus/acess to the most powerful ones.
You mentioned that the materia is only for stat changes, I thought it was for class changes a la Final Fantasy Tactics (The original) where you can have two "Job Abilities" equipped....would be nice if each came with like one ability from the related class...nothing too OP of course. Give Bard Hide :P Would make for some interesting party makeups.
Oh and I have a personal preference for "summons" to be called Espers...if thats up for debate that my vote...otherwise go with your preference :D

Chain of Retribution
Hey I just started playing this game (like played for an hour) and I'm loving the humour in the game so far. The Mage/Tutorial Sisters Avatars are kind of unnerving :D
Definately love the insta heal between combat I always love when that feature is includied...as most of the time it just boils down to carrying around 99 of X healing item with you so is mostly pointless and just succeeds to slow down gameplay
The Striker/Balance/Passive System makes the battle system more engaging than you standard "hit auto-battle and go grab a drink" random battles. Actually on that note I'm loving the decision to go with on map enemies instead of random battles.

It's been theoretically proven that Aerith did not die when Sephiroth skewered her...she was actually just paralyzed due to her spinal cord being severed. Her actual death occured when that moron Cloud dropped her into the water, where she drowned...but to quote a famous Researcher "It's just a theory, a GAME theory"
