@Garage and anyone who wants to try it: I'm interested in feedback of any kind.

^ I very vaguely remember that game.

Mayumi from Kakyusei is a character that not everyone likes, but she rounds out the cast well, and is very nice eye candy imo.

Kakyusei pack is almost here!

I'm gonna do one more test run through and then upload a beta before New Year's Day.

This content pack features 5 out of the 13 pursuable female characters from the original 1997 game Kakyusei by Elf. They are: Mizuho, Miko, Reiko, Mayumi, and Shizuka. A 6th character (Nana) is partially complete, and unfortunately that's all I can do for now. (hard to remove her at this point, as a bit of the story is intertwined with other characters, so forgive the fact that there is one unwinnable character)

You will want Clean Mode ON so that you can focus on the Kakyusei characters only. Stats are not very important but state locks play a big role. (more on this in the Readme file to come)

The story routes try to be faithful to the original game for the most part, but there are plenty of changes. Since no English translation of the original game has ever existed, this is the closest thing to it...yet.

What, exactly, makes you so on the fence about it? It is because the characters, themselves, aren't particularly well-developed? That you feel you won't do them justice? Some other factor?

Nah, nothing like that. It is simply that custom content is a fair amount of work (no surprise to anyone here, right?) and I'm not sure yet how well this is all turning out. Even though I'm not writing original story content I am translating from Japanese and adapting to the Heartache world so that is an interesting challenge in itself. The original game had 13 pursuable characters so it would take a very long time to add them all; gotta tie a bow on it at some point sooner.

I would be more than happy to test anything you allow me to, since I greatly enjoyed your original content (and this game as a whole).

I probably should warn you that I'm not a native speaker of English, though.

Awesome, Garage. Stand by, it's coming soon.

News...YES. I'm gearing up to release some custom content. That's right, custom content from flowerthief. Who would have thunk, huh?

The characters though are not original but from a classic game in the genre that was never ported to English. I have 4 of the characters done and on the fence whether to add another 2 (in which case the package would rival the play time of the built-in content).

If anyone wants to help test please let me know.

Hi all! Been awhile since I've shown my face around here. Hope everyone has been well.

I may have a little surprise brewing. Thought about saving it for the game's 10th anniversary, but since it should be completed by the end of the year, why wait? I'll be posting again before then....

Recommend a VN to read

I like Marrend's recommendation =)

The best VN I've read is what the VN community considers to be the greatest of the classics: Ever 17: The Out of Infinity.

Though hard to get a hold of these days, and skipping through scenes you've already read is a test of patience at times--only after you have unlocked all other endings do you get the true ending which is where the payoff is--it is 100% worth it. What also makes it a must-read and worth of study from an academic standpoint is the way it was uniquely designed for the VN medium, for reasons that are not possible to go into without spoiling it.

Consoles & Favourite Games

I don't have time to make a full list but PS2 God Hand would absolutely be on it.

Thanks for posting this. Was just the kind of thing I was looking for.
