Every so often Tim Rogers writes a good article that isn't just tl;dr fare - this is one of them.

The Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic

author=Dreaded
Yeah, that's the one I already had; I had a new one I might've only put out for testing reasons that had a lot more work saved into it. It's more than likely gone though.

I have the 2k3 version uploaded at www.queenscourt.org . I could check my hard drive to see if I had any further 2k3 versions. I think have a Rm2k (not 2k3) version that went well into the 2nd chapter that you never publicly released.

Americanization

Otherwise we'd get a Metal Gear Solid that resembles Star Ocean or something (god save us if that happened).

What, you mean Metal Gear Solid doesn't resemble Star Ocean? Don't they both have nonsense plot twists and emo characters?

Following the "they aren't white, they're Japanese," modern diversity scholars consider there to only be three races: white, black and asian. Japanese people aren't white, they're asian.

There are some people that don't fit neatly into black/white/asian. What are Native Americans?

Americanization

Craze: Hating all anime because it's anime is so 2007. That American box art is awful.

PS3 Hacked Wide Open - Watch PS3 Software sales collapse in 2011

drgnlord: The key difference here is the ease of piracy. For a DS, you need to get a flash cart. Sure, they sell them like water in the UK, maybe, but you still have to get your flash cart, load it up, etc. I believe to crack the 360 you need to open it up, flash the firmware; PSP and Wii IIRC involve loading custom firmware, etc. And for PSP, Wii, and 360, you may have to use downgraders, dodge system updates, etc. But with this PS3 hack, none of that is necessary. You'll be able to download the game and run it. Never have to worry about firmware updates, etc, because Sony can't fix this. So, with a completely open platform, in which piracy is stupidly easy and convenient, what will happen to software sales?

PS3 Hacked Wide Open - Watch PS3 Software sales collapse in 2011

From what I understand, this lets you sign and run any code you want, meaning you don't even need to hack your PS3 to run pirated games (come on, the number of people running legitimate homebrew is probably infinitesimal) or any dongle/flashcart/etc. And due to the way the exploit works, it doesn't seem like something Sony can ever fix with a firmware update. It'll be interesting to see if PS3 software sales collapse in 2011.
