Dragon Quest IX

post=87433
Well like every game from Famitsu gets 40/40 these days.

Not true. Only 10 have ever gotten 40/40. Even GTA4 which has a slew of 100s on Metacritic (DQ9 will be lucky to clear 80% there when it comes out here) only managed 39/40.

Dragon Quest IX

Don't look now, but DQ9 got 40/40 from Famitsu.

If you liked X, you might like Y...

If you liked TTHW, you might like Forgotten Majesty or Love and War.

Racial Diverstiy In RPG's

Yellow Magic: Again. Black people are a very diverse looking people. It's like you're trying hard NOT to understand that. And one must ask the question, why is it so offensive or abhorrent to you to accept that I, the author of the game (and therefore, what I say goes for this game, not what you say) have said this is so?

- Eh, you're probably just trolling. Yeah, that's got to be it. You can't possibly be this stupid.

Like this. This is so retarded I'm not even sure where to begin.
Whenever you're ready~

Did you not read where I said "I'm the author"? If I say it's so, then it is so. And by your own admission, it's been awhile since you played. If you didn't see anyone "black" in TTHW, I'd honestly question if you played the game at all. But to further indulge this line of reasoning:

1) Hair color - irrelevant. There aren't any purple or blue haired people naturally in this world, but they exist in my game.
2) Turban - this is fantasy. People wear all sorts of clothes in a fantasy setting. Therefore, irrelevant.
3) Brown skin - Because all black people have charcoal black complexions, right?
4) Other distinguishing characteristics - Maybe I didn't write my characters right. Maybe I should've given them a gold chain and had them "talk like this, yo fo' the shiznizz" or something.

This is why I said your post was retarded.

I never knew brown skin, golden hair and turbans were discerning features of black people. I better keep my eye open from now on; who knows whom I may offend?

EDIT: Okay, turbans MAYBE but seriously what in the world was "black" about these TTHW characters? Granted I haven't played the game in ages but I don't recall anyone "black" in TTHW. (Why am I using quotes)

Racial Diverstiy In RPG's

With the resources available to 99% of the community, an "ethnically monolithic" cast in just about every game is to be expected. The question I would have would be "what would Rm* games be like if a majority of the resources were of darker skinned characters?"

Also, FTR, since TTHW was mentioned earlier, it had 3 characters that, in this world, would be considered "black". One of them is Vance. And I've had people tell me flat out that I'm wrong about that. Even though I'm the author of the game.

RM Games to the Big Leagues??

While I haven't played all that many RPG maker games, I would say that Heroes Realm would do wonderfully as an SNES RPG.

Hero's Realm did come out on the SNES. It was called "Dragon Quest III Reprise" :D

I would only vote KC(A) if it were done. In its current state, sadly, no. IMO there are probably 20-30 complete games that could fit this criteria, given the limits of what's actually out there on the consoles and handhelds. I mean, honestly, how many Rm* games are better than Legend of Heroes?

I wonder, though, why LoD readily makes the list of "RM games that could go pro as is", but never makes those "list your favorite RM game" lists

Boo hoo. TTHW doesn't usually make either list.

Underrated RPG Maker Games

Aurora Wing is criminally underrated.

Any Three the Hard Way Walkthough?

but there are too many useless spells (Kanna's special spells *especially* come to mind - they should have been more "impressive" than the regular spells, and they ended up being fairly useless) and some spells are ridiculously overpowered (like Suicide Blast).

Hopefully, my next RPG (when I'm done with QC) will be much better balanced. I've learned quite a bit since then.

By the way, is "The Sojourners" the title of the main story or the title of the whole series?

The name of the main story, though since it IS the main story I consider all of this under the "The Sojourners" umbrella.

And hopefully the PM feature actually worked this time ...
