author=kentona link=topic=323.msg4238#msg4238 date=1192728546
Any suggestions for next week's Top 10 list? I have a slew of ideas, but thought I'd weigh in here first. (I paln to release a new Top 10 every Wednesday or so).

3. Super Mario 64
It was pretty sweet! I don't think I need to explain why.
2. Perfect Dark
I always felt that Goldeneye's multiplayer was pretty lame (and that shooters in general were pretty lame until the good stuff started hitting around 2000). Perfect Dark was actually quite a bit of fun, though, and my friends and I used to play it regularly until just a few years ago.

Final Fantasy XII

Mr. Abley is a flip-flopper. He has previously stated that he quit FFXII at the last dungeon when he thought the FFXII international version would have english subtitles. He was SALIVATING at the chance to play it again. But when he found out the internation version didn't have subtitles, he cried. And hit his girlfriend.
Which is it, Mr. Abley? You loved FFXII so much that you were wanting to spend another 110 hours on the international version? Or that your nerd-limit was in effect and you didn't want to spend a second over 110 hours on it? Huh? HUH?
Well, I never went *back* for end-game content and to finish the final dungeon because of the International version. I took a break in the first place because I felt like 110 hours was just too long to be playing the same game. I know some of you guys are homeschooled kids that play video games all day or stay-at-home dads or unemployed or whatever, but I'm too interested in too many games and have too little time to be racking up hundreds of hours on every game.
And yeah I'm really bummed about the International version because FFXII's mechanics felt half-finished and the International version's featureset made it sound so much better-realized.
Final Fantasy XII

Trust me, it was very poor. Just like most of the latest Final Fantasies they are all shit endings. Why is it that so many games can not cap off a great ending. But maybe it's just me.
Final Fantasy X's ending was soooo brilliant. I never finished XII, because once I finally hit the last dungeon, I realized that my game clock was as high as I was going to let it go (110 hours?!), so I don't know how that ends. But I loved the end of X!
Paradise Blue
So I just have to remind you guys how awesome this is and that Ocean is actually not a bad composer at all.
Just saying.

Script: Encounter Areas
Well, I actually think this is really awesome. I don't think that any of you really understand how fundamentally lame and limiting events really are. They are a useful tool, but there are much more efficient ways of doing all sorts of tasks -- particularly any feature that ends with the word "system".
Couple of things for RMXP
I don't know which scripts you want specifically, but I do know that I have seen those at www.rmxp.org. RMXP.org is a great resource for RMXP and I really recommend browsing their tutorials and scripts, as well as trying a few of the popular games there to get an idea of what the standards are of homebrew RM scene.

Reduced the resolution? They reduced the window size to 544x416 but the tiles are the same as RMXP, 32x32.
RMXP runs at 640x480. I guess the difference is actually pretty insignificant, but I'd prefer that my games run at least at standard definition.

THIS SUCKS BECAUSE IT ISN'T RM2003
>:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
Seriously, it pisses me off that they reduced the resolution without leaving an option for a higher one. Some people are inept artists but insist on making their own graphics anyway, and resort to cute cartoons. These only look good if the lines are smooth. I guess the alpha-layer support will help, anyway.
