REQUEST: A couple of VX outfits.

Oh hello. Some of you might remember me as Myersguy, the guy who used to be around a little more often :P

Anyways, I have decided to get in gear and try to get an RPG going seriously for the first time since the loss of my long worked-on project. The game is going to include music made by myself, and hopefully, some custom sprites as well. However, that is where I need some help:

See, there is that wonderful VX character creator tool online, and it should do quite nicely for what I am after, and whatever it can't do, I'm sure I can with photoshop. However, when it comes to actual sprite work, I am less than fantastic. So, I am here to make a request:

I need two outfits done, so to speak, as the character generator doesn't have anything really suited to what I am after. The first, is a blue set of clothing, and the other, is some high tech looking guard wear. Lucky for me, Half Life two pretty much has exactly what I want:

However, I don't need any masks on the guards.

I'm not so sure anyone will actually do this for me, considering I have absolutely nothing as insurance that this game will be completed, since I've never actually completed and uploaded a game before. To be quite honest, I won't be surprised if no one takes this up, but I would love to see someone help me out here. So, if you are willing to help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm not really sure what I can do in return, but talk to me. Perhaps I could make some music for someone who helps me with this, or some graphics, like title screens, avatars, etc.

Oh, and if it helps, here is the template the outfits need to match. I assume it would be easiest to make them on a layer above this character, and then just delete the character after. Do it however you want, as I can always edit out whatever is extra, etc. Thanks to anyone who tries for me, and I look forward to seeing what comes of this.

The Rain Man died today (58)

Kim Peek, I'm very happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish, but, Michael Jackson's death was one of the best deaths of all time.

Greatest story to not happen to you!

...wow...

Somehow, after reading this, I'm very scared to end up in a situation like this now...

Mind you, I wouldn't be a dumbass and shit in the tub...

Event trigger help.

One is if the event touches you, and one is if you touch the event.

For instance, you have an event chasing the player. One of the options will start the event when the event touches the player. The other, however, will allow the event to continue running into the player, without anything happening. The player then has to walk in the direction of that event, meaning that the player touched the event, not the other way around.

Hopefully that isn't too confusing.

Gamemusic?

Some samples would be great.

I'm a composer of sorts, but I simply do it as a small hobby. I wouldn't want to dive straight into making music for someone's game, as I might go "Meh, to hell with this."

I have experience writing scripts and viruses in autoit v3, and I have experience writing .cfg packs for TF2 also editing HUDs for that game as well.

I just lost all hope in you ever succeeding.

No name - The VST for the guitar, does it have different samples that play at different velocities? If so, experiment with that final low guitar note, might have a better sample =) What's compressing the hell out of the drums? Is that part of the kit in the VST or are you running it through a separate one?

My computer was actually just shitting bricks when I put that together. Not sure why, but if I put too many VSTi's on, I start to get buzzing, hissing, or weird compression/fading of sounds etc.

It seems to be better to render out each individual track, and then put them all together in goldwave.

The truth about Santa Claus

I like showing this to people. It's absolutely great:

1) No known species of reindeer can fly. BUT there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not COMPLETELY rule out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen.
2) There are 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world. BUT since Santa doesn't (appear) to handle the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and Buddhist children, that reduces the workload to 15% of the total - 378 million according to Population Reference Bureau. At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that's 91.8 million homes. One presumes there's at least one good child in each.

3) Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 822.6 visits per second. This is to say that for each Christian household with good children, Santa has 1/1000th of a second to park, hop our of the sleigh, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left, get back up the chimney, get back into the sleigh an move on to the next house. Assuming that each of these 91.8 million stops are evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false but for the purpose of our calculations we will accept), we are now talking about .78 miles per household, a total trip of 75« million miles, not counting stops to do what most of us must do at least once every 31 hours, plus feeding, etc.

This means that Santa's sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second, 3,000 time the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man-made vehicle on earth, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second - a conventional reindeer can run, tops, 15 miles per hour.

4) The payload on the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium-sized lego set (2 pounds), the sleigh is carrying 321,300 tons, not counting Santa, who is invariably described as overweight. On land, the conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds. Even granting the "flying reindeer" (see point #1) could pull TEN TIMES the normal amount, we cannot do the job with eight, or even nine. We need 214,200 reindeer. This increases the payload -not even counting the weight of the sleigh - to 353,430 tons. Again, for comparison - this is four times the weight of the Queen Elizabeth.

5) 353,000 tons travelling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance - this will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as spacecraft re-entering the earth's atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer will absorb 14.3 QUINTILLION joules of energy. Per second. Each. In short, they will burst into flame almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them, and create deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team will be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second. Santa, meanwhile, will be subjected to centrifugal forces 17,500.06 times greater than gravity. A 250-pound Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of his sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force. In conclusion - If Santa ever DID deliver presents on Christmas Eve, he's dead now.

Merry Christmas!
