If you actually played any of the other RMN Bros. games, you'd understand why such measures are necessary.


Hey, a lot of those bosses were pretty creative. I particularly liked Bowser, Larry Koopa sprite swap #42, and the hundreds of Boom-Boom variants.
I've even seen Boom-Boom with a spike on his head. THAT IS CREATIVE.

Well that's why I asked. I can do World 7 instead. His idea is better for World 8. Probably. I just want to pick one before I make all my levels and block myself out.

nin8halos, we haven't made any boss levels official yet. You said we should wait to see what mini-bosses end up in what worlds and choose accordingly, which I agreed with.

That said, I'm being a stubborn twat and making world 7's boss and the bonus world boss. That still leaves 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8, so if you have a boss in mind for a certain world, make sure you don't make another level that already fits that location!

The title of the game doesn't really mean anything. We just figured it was the next logical step after Super RMN Bros 3.
It's still just a mish-mash of Mario stuff.

Thematic resprites of Dragon Coins are allowed, but we don't have a definite design for our RMN Coins yet. If you make the same changes to regular Dragon Coins, we'll adjust it in the finished project.
Oh yeah. I should get on that.

Btw, I forgot who's doing which boss levels. I need to stake my claim to one of them before everyone else does. I think I could make Guernica a boss level. I'd have to base it on the theme rather than the art style. That's all irrelevant anyway, since this is entirely a self-imposed challenge.

Also, I need more feedback on my levels before I can decide whether I should change them. I don't want to have to submit several revisions for each one.

Difficulty is a very tough thing to define (how ironic!).
That is not irony!
Anyway, I tend to think that difficulty in this sort of game (if we want it to be accessible to non-hardcore gamers) should move steadily from very easy yet engaging in the first world to very difficult but enjoyable in the last world. The bonus world should be a combination of weird and extremely difficult. I get the impression that everyone else wants something that starts out fairly challenging, ramps up to pretty damn hard by World 5 and becomes impossible around World 8. I blame too much free time and too many SMW romhacks.
