Skinwalker

Wow SnowOwl, your Project is receiving a ton of attention as it should. As a person who has been watching over your projects for a while I've noticed that "exploration" is a core theme and factor within your games. I enjoy the way you visually express yourself. Can't wait for an update if you're planning on one that is.

Skinwalker Review

Great Review, your thoughts replicate a lot of my own.

Skinwalker

You forget, it was more of a "visual novel" if anything else unlike horror games such as Midnight, Project Viral, Eclipse which have the game-play elements much embedded. I think SnowOwl kind of got that point across already. Anyway, being a horror fan and loving to play rpg maker games of the sort I tried out the game.

SnowOwl, Kudos to your work. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. It wasn't as scary as I was hoping but had some twisted parts the were quite disturbing at the most. I really enjoyed the plot for the game and the fact that it was presented in a first person style. This made the experience even more satisfying allowing the player/reader to be drawn in to what was happening. Great job, some of the effects could have been pulled off better but I think poorer creeper effects kind of make up for being less effective than the bigger ones used such as the Skin-walker peering through the windows from outside. This added tension and despair, it truly did but this effect itself which I felt was the most unique was repeated too much in a sense. Also a lot of the novel isn't as visual as I would have hoped and more text. The game started off a little bit slow but that added to the psychological effect of it all. As you get into it, the mystery acts as an enigma itself. I think one of the most satisfying parts of the horror is the part when the skin-walker says it wants to be you, this kind of leaves you in a bit of shock and confusion. The way you presented the game truly shows you did some slight research into the myth or legend of the "Skinwalker". However there were many concepts you failed to acknowledge which could have been expanded on. This would have probably increased the length or game-time of your short story too. I would rate this 7/10, a great short visual piece of work to engage in your free time.

The improvement I think you could add could be variations in the plot. For example like choices that could affect the outcome of the plot. You should consider making alternative endings and alternative cut scenes which depend on choices and how you interacted with the characters etc.

A few words on game submissions.

I agree even though I rarely check RRR anymore. I get no feedback for my games there which is becoming a lot like RMN.

Skinwalker

So what systems you having implemented. Any combat? Whats going to make this game unique and how you going to pull it off in 30 mins?

Horror Developers

Actually one of the reasons I was doing this was because I was thinking of making a promotion video that spreads the word on you-tube based on the horror games created using rpg maker with consent of course from fellow developers etc.
