Despite this list I actually have a bad track record concerning beating games that I own.

A montage of thoughts about several games

Many of the games I have played from this era have already been talked about so I'll discuss the ones that have not been mentioned.

Shadow Madness - This game really taught me where my priorities lie when it comes to enjoying RPGs. The game had crappy graphics, sound, and gameplay but great characters and story. Fortunately battles were laughably easy so you could just breeze through the game and enjoy the story. It had one of the best character lineups I've seen in a game. Your party included a gun-happy gadgeteer, and floating British head, and a harvester robot who's catchphrase was; "There will be death."

The Legend of Dragoon - Once again, a very flawed game that I enjoyed nevertheless. Combat was very repetitive but it kept you awake. The first two discs were generic as hell, but the story picked up after that. The end of the third disc had an unexpected plot twist that kept me interested for the rest of the game. A mostly average game that stands out in a few areas.

The Grandstream Saga - Interesting battle system that felt more like a fighting game than an RPG. Great story potential but was told very poorly. It did have awesome anime cut scenes that really gave the characters life. It also had a great plot twist that resulted in two completely different endings.

Vagrant Story - I loved this game but I completely understand while some people did not care for it. It was an action RPG with a lot of weapon crafting. It was like the Shin Megami Tensei games in that you would find yourself spending time customizing your character just to beat a specific boss. The game had great music and story, but the graphics stretched the limit of what the PS1 could do and would have been better off on the PS2. The composer and character designer from Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII also did this game. This game is a commitment but I really feel it pays off.

Lufia DS! Remake of Lufia 2!

The features that I will judge the new Lufia on are: tight responsive controls, good story and characterization, intelligent dungeon design, and gameplay that is genuinely fun. A five minute trailer in a language I don't understand does not tell me whether of not the game has any of this. I just believe you really can't and shouldn't judge a game when it hasn't even been released yet.

Lufia DS! Remake of Lufia 2!

While reading this thread, nearly every post conjurers an image of the Frankstein monster waving his arms and grunting; "CHANGE, BAAAAAD!"

Seriously though we no virtually nothing about this game other than how it looks and people seem to have made up their minds already. I loved the original Lufia 2 and I hope that this will be a good, albeit different, game. That being said, I'm not going to blindly purchase it until I read some reviews.

ITT we tell the poster above us why their favourite game sucks

I went to all the trouble of getting the "good" ending and turns out its not even canon.

Games I've made significant progress on and still intend to beat:

Last Scenario - I discovered Exit Fate
Demon Legacy - bug in the final dungeon forced me to restart the game
Legacies of Dondoran - poor skill choices made final boss impossible
The Longing Ribbon - died on the final chapter too much
Everlong - creator kept updating the game, "final" version has now been released

STEAM: And why you should get it right now.

Alright, fair enough. I just had a problem with you trashing the game in response to a prospective buyer and then not providing information to back the statement up.

I'll also say if you want a grind/loot fest, you're better off getting Torchlight for $10.

STEAM: And why you should get it right now.

Wow, you're right! I just read a bunch of negative reviews of the game and I completely changed my mind. Borderlands is complete shit. I was just deluding myself when I was having fun with this game. ET for the Atari 2600 was a better game. Thank you so much for opening my eyes!

STEAM: And why you should get it right now.

I can understand some people not liking Borderlands, but how can you call it terrible? It may have a lax story, multiplayer issues, and the same repetitive nature that every Diablo-style game has, but the core gameplay is solid. I bought it expecting a Diablo FPS with a Fallout setting, Borderlands did not disappoint.

Shadows of Evil: Wings of Time Deluxe

Yeah I'm able to play the game too. Its just that one file that is corrupt.
