I'm just a guy who has played ALOT of games. Many of them RPGs, many of them made in RPGMaker.

RPGMAKER IS DEAD

I believe I agree with what is being said in this topic, but the opening blog could not have been in a more confrontational and unhelpful tone. Raising awareness for a problem is one thing, but the real issue is what should be done to remedy the situation.

Four Heroes of Light ~ In Soviet Russia, Battles Target You

Random chance in video games is poor design, as is elemental weakness. It's a foregone conclusion; is the enemy weak to fire? USE FIRE! That's what you do. It's not compelling gameplay or intelligent decision making. I wonder if developers keep including it because it makes people feel smart for having deduced to right element to use (scan) and then seeing LARGE NUMBERS come up when they use ice on the Burning Magmalords.

By that logic, every RPG ever made has poor design.

What can change the nature of man?

Games that have stood the test of time?

Considering I was just playing Uncharted Waters 2 I would have to concur. I never even played the game back when it came out and I still love it now.

YDS' Let's Try Thread

I just started watching this. You pretty much echoed the thoughts that I had while playing Lost Legacy and To Arms!. I didn't get much farther in those games either. This is as close as developer can ever get to seeing through the eyes of a first time player. I hope that many people will find these videos enlightening.

Who names a character Anime anyway?

What do you want to see in Final Fantasy XV?

Yet another potentially optimistic topic turned into a "let's bitch about what we hate" thread.

What other RM games have inspired your projects?

tau posted the "golden age" of rm. it's refreshing to gaze into the past and then be cockblocked by endless VX and XP RTP. what a rude awakening....

Do you ever have anything positive to say?

Let's discuss...Suikoden!

I love the Suikoden series. There is just something so awesome about having your own castle and army. Its really that concept that carries the entire series. The RPG part of the series really is its weakest link. Battles are numerous and easy and therefore pointless. Dungeon design is incredibly simplistic. Some recruitment requirements are unintuitive to say the least. These issues would crush my enjoyment of any other game, yet I still hold Suikoden in high regard.

Also, my FAVORITE part of these forums is when people throw down a dissenting opinion and then proceed to not provide any information about why it is they feel this way. Its like the Hit and Run arguments in England from Family Guy.

Multiple love interests in a serious rpg... Does it work?

Baldur's Gate II had some archetypes that I've often seen in real life. There was the whiny girl who can't let go of her past, the overprotective motherly figure who nags at you constantly, and the hot one with severe unpredictable mood swings. That is unless you're a chick in which case its the stuck up knight or nothing.
