RM2k3 A question about converting to MIDI

Okay, I've been writing a score for my game have come up with a few numbers that I think are going to impress a lot of people--I've sure been listening to some of it over and over again, but to be honest, that's really just to find ways of improving it, but I do love listening to the playback--, but I have a problem. I've tried playing off keyboard and I've tried writing it on a scorewriting program, but no matter what I do, I can't get RM2k3 to recognize my files as MIDI. I save as .smf, but RTP won't recognize it when I try to import it. Should I try .rmi or .xmf?

[Poll] What do you think about multiple endings?

Radiata Stories is an example of a game in which your decisions drastically effect the narrative, to the point in which it could almost be described as two different games. It's also an example of a game in which multiple endings are done badly. You have two possible endings. The love interest dies, which is the best of the two endings. The love interest lives, which is just the other ending with the sad stuff taken out and one scene added to show the hero walking along with his still alive girlfriend. Also, the storyline that leads you to the Happy Ending is much weaker storyline. It's obvious the developer, once finishing the main game, threw a secondary storyline in as nothing more than an afterthought. If you follow the main story arc and go through the game the developers clearly initially designed, then you have an excellent story.

Silent Hill is an example of multiple endings done well, though while the narrative does change leading up to each one, these aren't drastic changes. Overall, I find I do prefer games with multiple endings. I just want the developer to care about ALL of the endings, not just his or her favorite one.

Villain RPG: A Hero's Tale

In any really good story, the villain has always been my favorite character. Loving the hero is fine. Hating the villain is okay. Loving to hate the villain is best. Some of my favorite stories are the ones where the protagonist ends up becoming the villain in the end. I also write books and I look very closely at a villain's character and sometimes I think that the hero's real purpose is to justify the existence of the villain. Because we always start with the hero. We see him crash in a rocket ship as a baby. We see her escape a secret genetic lab when she's a child. The thing is, the hero never has a purpose until there's a villain, but the villain has always had a purpose. It's the villain that gives the hero a meaning, a reason, an identity. There can be no hero without the villain, but there can always be villains.

Hello, I'm Tom

I shall do my best. I'm enjoying what I'm working on already. Yes, it does get hot down here.

RPG Maker 2003: I cannot figure out how to make a sense skill.

I've downloaded both. I'm trying to make it as a command and a spell, one or the other depending on the level of the ability. Ocean, have you written any tutorials about messing with battle systems?

Thank you all for your advice. I tried the new variables last night and they worked like I hoped. Now to apply what Ocean just told me...

RPG Maker 2003: I cannot figure out how to make a sense skill.

Thank you so much! This exactly what I was looking for! And thank you for program recommendation. I'm still using Paint for all of my graphics. I have Gimp but am ready to give it up as a bad job.

RPG Maker 2003: I cannot figure out how to make a sense skill.

Thank you. It looks like I have some experimenting to do. Still not having any luck finding a tutorial. This is what I hate about being a NOOB. Still, might be worth it to be the first one to write a tutorial on it.

RPG Maker 2003: I cannot figure out how to make a sense skill.

First, I would not be asking if I had found a tutorial detailing this information. If there is such a tutorial, I would love to have the link.

I'm sure you know what I'm talking about; the sense materia from Final Fantasy VII and other such skills in other RPGs. Essentially, I am trying to figure out how to create a skill that lets a character reveal an enemy's statistics. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and thank you very much.
