the big issue I have with 'keep politics out of x'-style policies is that they often allow plausibly-deniable forms of bigotry while penalizing people who make note of it or ask for it to stop. it's maybe not entirely accurate to say that there's no such thing as an apolitical discussion, but people are definitely prone to ignoring their own politics when putting that sort of thing in place -- which makes it easy to accuse someone of bringing politics into a discussion when a discussion has been political the entire time.

that said, I have no idea if the moderation is like that in practice -- I'm just speaking from what I've seen of similar policies elsewhere. how the people enforcing it define 'political' is a big part of it, since that umbrella term can often unfairly penalize members of marginalized groups talking about their experiences and so on.

nah, but you reminded me of The Hunt and All Of Our Friends are Dead, which are a couple very upsetting games that the creator apparently adapted from their own nightmares. it's an interesting method, but none of mine are really consistent enough to work even in a 'jumbled up unsettling imagery' sense.
