...I don't get the reference/point you're trying to make?

the butt slap thing is from street fighter. street fighter five is the game that a thousand thousand slimy things said was ruined by the alteration of a butt slap animation. I... thought that was the one you were talking about.

anyway, even if horny stuff is actually the core of the game + its entire purpose, it still bears criticism -- it just changes the situation a little, and should be kept in mind when putting together that criticism. a lot of valid criticism doesn't pertain to just the presence of sexual content alone, but its context and what it communicates.

e: and very little criticism is just 'remove x' -- that's a line we keep buying from people who like to treat criticism and censorship as though they're the same thing.

I will admit that aiming to censor a butt slap from a game that is all about butts, breasts and babes is incredibly stupid and assinine though.

street fighter is, ostensibly, about street fighting

What are you thinking about right now?

it seems like transparent fearmongering to go 'well, they could change ANYTHING'

yes, they literally could change anything, because they are the developers of the game. that is, again, how it works. criticism as always influences the creators, who as always tailor the final product to suit their vision and the tastes of the audience. as it was, as it is, and so on.

people trying to spin this into a terrifying precedent, a sign of some dark future where marginalized groups viciously police good honest anime-lovers, are generally trying to sell you something or cause trouble for someone.

What are you thinking about right now?

I have absolutely no problem with game developers being influenced by criticism. that's what it's for.

What are you thinking about right now?

I tried checking neogaf out a while back as part of my ~branching out initiative~ but jeez the place is dense and the community atmosphere is tough to get a hold on

it takes a while to get a feel for a place but like, nothing caught my eye strongly enough to make it seem worth the trouble

What are you thinking about right now?

imagine being such a boring person that yr entire online presence is just being cruel to random people in the most generic possible ways

why was I even trying to keep tabs w/ people from the bad old days lmao

When you started talking about "the one person in my group who I thought was fine, but they really aren't either" I assumed it was about yourself

this isn't... really funny at all + just makes you look petty and mean-spirited hth

e: like, I think this post right here is the most we've interacted in years. either you have some weird puppy grudge or you think we're friends + either way you should let that go

ee: in fact I'm gonna let it go on your behalf because on reflection I've literally never seen you say anything interesting

why was I even trying to keep tabs w/ people from the bad old days lmao

that's okay because really I'm the sun

e: also this is a vague as hell topic but please rest assured that the ~bad old days~ far predate me even being on rmn + if you're wondering if this is about you it absolutely isnt'

sorry just realized how much I'm asking for someone to read this and think it's about them and feel bad

rpg maker mv is a large step backwards

I know degica aren't the developers -- I'm taking the actual developers' establishment of a much less fire-and-forget sort of branding presence, contracted or otherwise, as a sign of interest

maybe I'm wrong but hey

rpg maker mv is a large step backwards

it's kind of interesting how much this feels like when vx came out

like, vx also tried to make some pretty big departures from the last title, and was received poorly by a lot of people. people got talking about improvements they'd want, and vx ace came out with much better implementations of the things vx was trying to do

I haven't given MV a shot yet but I feel pretty optimistic about this anyway, just going by the whole pattern. it helps that the developers are much more aware of + involved with the userbase now, too.
