One Piece Role-Play

that mech is just making me want someone to make a Megaman Legends sort of thing

Why does great looking indie games get cancelled?

making a game in a complete vacuum can sometimes work if you're experienced, but I wouldn't recommend it when starting out. everything else is a matter of whether you think you'll get valuable input which, haha, is a crapshoot.

e: I should clarify -- while it's a crapshoot, it's really not the sort of call I'd be comfortable making most of the time. there have been more than a couple occasions where I put some work out without any expectations and a little while later find someone has written a huge, beautiful, and completely unexpected critique that leaves a very real impact on the way I go forward from there. it's a good feeling!

you're real, but my real is tenfold; my real could make yours a rental

or in other words,

don't pull the thang out unless you plan to bang
don't even bang unless you plan to hit something

you wanna be brash and irreverent and speak the truth and so on? cool, and I can help make that happen for you

but spending time talking about how no one understands you, then losing it at the first comment that isn't "there, there"? that isn't iconoclasm. it's a sugarless imitation that'll fool some people, depending on where you are, but it's still firmly positioned in babytown. population: baby.

the first holy tenet of the monks of don't-give-a-fuck living in the mist-wreathed mountains of cool:

speak the truth and speak it ever, cause it what it will
for he who hid the wrong he did did the wrong thing still

The RMW Chain Game

that too. I was banned from rmw after causing the proprietors and many of the customers to have near-lethal heart attacks with my sick skateboard tricks. (that came fairly late into the project's life-cycle, though. leaving it up to luck of the draw is still lame.)

That wonderful moment when giving harsh criticism, and the subject actually responds positvely instead of defensively. So wonderful, if everyone was like that I'd be a fucking pleasure ;A;

I still think you're better off without battles. Sure, it won't make it an rpg, but it would still be fun to play.

more Alex less

uh

shit

p.s. is the next one going to be as laissez-faire wrt organization as the last one because that made it impossible for me to participate

One Piece Role-Play

other sites are not worth the trouble because 70% of anime fans are monomaniacs and your small cell of reasonable people will run into an appreciable amount no matter where you go

good luck though

[Poll] Rpg games with drawn or picture backgrounds.

parallax mapping is usually very nice when I see it, but I don't see very many parallaxed games reach completion. the time investment probably piles up on most people

I think one of the big things, though, is that if you're going to use hand-drawn backgrounds the tile-based movement in rpg maker gets more conspicuous. pixel-based movement is exceedingly rare in most games, too, which is a shame. Sunset over Imdahl is a good example of drawn backgrounds done well, but I think that system works best when the player character moves and collides by pixels instead of according to a grid.

I'd very much like to see more games making use of parallaxed backgrounds, partially because this could create a demand for better pixelmovement scripts than the fairly limited ones that currently exist. if you're looking to draw your backgrounds, more power to you!
