Update #9: Title Screen & Demo Information

Why are you using Sticker star music (I hate its soundtracks). :'(
The TTYD loading screen music is really nice and epic, I think it would be better for yours.

Great work as always !


I like Sticker Star's OST, but that aside, I have to try and include music from different games so that the OST isn't too stale. TTYD has been thoroughly exhausted... hopefully Paper Jam will provide some nice tracks.

Nice ! Great !

But some remarks on the video :

- Interaction with toadiko in the house : the camera is a little moving before and after the interaction. If you want to make that kind of effect, maybe you should move the camera lower. Actually this just look like a bug...!
- On battle, why are you using the opening menu sound instead of the confirmation sound ? It's a little disturbing for me. xD


The camera ignores the bounding limitations I implemented when you talk to Toadiko so that it centers on her instead of on Mario or a screen relative position. Because they're standing close to the center of the room, it just looks like it moves slightly for no reason. It probably doesn't need to center on her, but I feel like I did it for a reason, ha

-Paper Mario sounds aren't labeled, so I had to go through about 1,200 sound effects to find what I needed. I might be "misusing" a few... I hope it's not too much of an issue.

As long as the UI isn't blocked by the audience, it'll be a very nice addition!


The UI is actually on a layer above the audience, aside from a few things like HP bars and stuff tied to the fighters. Nothing too important.

I'm VERY HYPED for this game!
To be honest, I'm GLAD it's Paper Mario in Mario & Luigi and not the other way around. At least we'll have a good RPG, and not a probable disappointment like Sticker Star.
Also, I don't see this too farfetched: Mario & Luigi is known for having a new gameplay gimmick in every game (excluding the first because it was the first), so this time they just took Paper Mario as their gimmick. I'm 100% okay with that.

True, they usually have a gimmick. I'm beginning to wonder if Sticker Star and Dream Team were made on the same console so that they could eventually crosss them over like this.

Well, I was happy about the inclusion of Paper Mario in a Mario & Luigi game. Love both series.
But I think your game will have to work as my Paper Mario fix.

Right now when you get to the black screen, all you have to do is click a different tab and then click back on the blog's tab and it will load up. Gonna try to fix it so that you don't have to do that.

Played it. Quite an interesting project.

I managed not to die in any battle, but I did use a lot of items. I probably should've read this post first because cdivision and I were like "why is this so hard/ is something wrong?" I ended up skipping a lot of text in the intro (sorry), so if there was an explanation about how the battle worked I might've missed. it

That script that shows the monsters on the mini-map is an amazing feature; it reminds me of Etrian Odyssey. Keep up the good work, I think your battle system can evolve into something amazing.

The Secret Skill

Note: This isn't actually the same animation you see in the game. When the game got partially erased in 08, I (C-Div posting) had to remake some junk, this included. And I really didn't feel like making the same thing twice. I like both versions though.

^You're spot on with the river. Hopefully it's not too bad. I added a "shadow gradient" to the front of the bridge to make it look like it's slightly above it.

The bridges typically would need character interaction to pop up like that, but the Popop Flowers would be the type of thing to do that on their own, hence the name. I'm glad you like the updates!
