Description
Welcome to RMN's 14th birthday! This year we've got a very simple event planned:
'Oh, is that all?', I can hear you say. No! This year we have an additional challenge!
This game should include one (or all!) of the following:
- The phrase "Happy Birthday, you filthy animal!"
- Your current favourite song
- A fish trying to hitch-hike to Alaska
- A militaristic bird
- A philosophy major who talks in 13375P34K
- The phrase "I will finish making a game!"
- The phrase "I will not beg RMN for pizza."
- The world's unluckiest person
- RMN Boba Challenge
- An old man complaining about something ridiculous
- Three different memes
- A missing present
- Too many butterflies
- A childish rap battle
- A talking birthday cake
- The Happy Birthday song sung incorrectly
- 14 of something to find/collect
- Spinach
RULES
- Game must be started on or after the 5th of June, 2021 and made over the course of that week.
- Time spent making the game must be 14 hours or under, over the course of the week.
- Team-ups have 14 hours total to make the game in.
- Game must include at least one of the above-mentioned prompts.
- No need for a game page for this event.
- Any engine, any assets. If you intend to make graphics for the game, wait until the start date, though planning on paper outside the engine is allowed.
- You may edit images and music outside of the 14 hours total however you may only do so during the event timeline (the week that the event runs). (Or not, if you prefer to challenge yourself!)
- Be as silly or as serious as you like, as long as it falls within the rules of the site.
- At least 5 minutes of playtime is required!
- Obvious troll games will be thrown out with the trash!
PRIZES
14MS Badge: Given to all who take part and release something for the event.
Everyone who releases a viable game will also get to pick a game of their choice from Liberty's Games List. Choosing order will be randomised.
Uploading and Timezones
To upload to this page, sign up below. When your game is done, compress it into one file (via winrar, 7zip or engine self-compression) then hit the Submit link in the top-right of this page. Browse to find your file, then hit upload. Wait until the page redirects. Note: you can only upload 450MB of data, so please make sure that you remove any excess files.
To see when the event starts and ends in your timezone, click on your name in the black bar at the top of the page, pick Account in the top-right, then click on Settings and add your timezone offset. Save and you will note that on the event page the date/time has changed!

Aw...little RMN is finally growing up right in front of our eyes...
Now he’s getting ready to get beaten up in high school by all of the twelfth graders… *sniff*
Wasn't very motivated to join at first but count me in.
What I plan to do could have fit in previous RMN events: a LGBT context (A Rainbow of Positivity, what I did for this one was bad!) and a single map game (Valentiny 2020, this one was better even if too simple).
For the list of creative constraints, I should be using at least 5 of them.
The engine will be RMXP. The main character will be myself. (The same guy you control in my Mapdaptation submission, and my avatar btw)
And the wacky story:
I must bake a cake for my boyfriend's birthday who must stay in our bedroom until I finish it. However, this wouldn't be as easy as pie since I will be disturbed by many "bizarre" people...

14 hours... I've never thought of joining an event with such a short creation frame, but maybe joining something so short is a good thing. Ahh I'll have to think about it.
My game will be called meme quest and will feature a "meme investigator" entering the meme dimension to contain 14 powerful "meme lords" who if left unchecked could invade and destroy all dimensions. On your quest you meet many strange allies from other universes like:
-Reeks, a bird war general from the bird civil war dimension where birds became the dominant species instead of humans and an endless civil war rages between Owls, Bats, Eagles, and Falcons has raged on and on since anyone could remember. Serves as your tank.
-Flopflop, a fish who wants to escape to Canada due to the political turmoil in his own country, but got captured by ICE and forced to serve them as a meme investigator. He comes from the fish dimension, a dimension where fish developed legs and conquered, enslaved, and killed all humans and become the dominant species in their ancient past. He serves as your healer and buffer.
-Gilbert: An old man from the Gamer Dimension where everyone is required by the state to become an epic gamer, and in doing so consume a massive amount of Mountain Dew and Doritos, constantly say slurs in MW2 lobbies, and constantly speak in numbers instead of words. Before the government takeover by gamers, he was a philosophy major and planned to become a position. He serves as your mage.
-Lie: A living, talking cake who's home is the living bakery dimension where due to a nuclear accident baked goods became alive and killed all humans in rebellion for always being eaten by them. He serves as your debuffer and can also use dark magic.

14 hours? After refining things, it's a birfday celebration. For my gnoll bard on her thirteenth birthday. At fantasy Chuck E Cheese's.
Yeah, this is by no means going to be a serious game. Mostly. My "current favorite song" prompt will have to be the one and only serious part, because of the song itself. The 14 things will be a play on Dragon Quest's mini medals, needed to win the game.

Man, I need to drop out of events more often. I've been on fire for this one! Totally assembling a game page. Who knew that the secret easy mode for a week-long event was to create a scavenger hunt game? And one that doesn't take itself too seriously at that?
12 of 14 collectibles have been integrated. The one (1) battle, some NPC dialogue, the ending scene and a title screen are all I need. Oh, and playtesting. Am five hours out of fourteen for the event, and I may or may not go back and polish stuff later. Sounds do not fit the high-end 8-bit aesthetic but hey, I know I can edit 8-bit sprites the easiest.
Took on three of the prompts so far, and will add a fourth. Consider one-third of a prompt in there too. Maybe I might include an interactive rap battle as an optional victory lap when I know for sure the game works in time? After all, Nazreen's first game was a dating sim with dialogue choices. But for now...
