A color on one of a similar hue isn't a good design choice, no matter how much you like it. It's hard to read.

Screenshots of strategy games really tempt me to post my own... even though it's not even close to completion or even a demo.
Made in Sphere, etc etc. "Move" is for debugging, ignore it. Sometime in the far, far future, our little Jastlin'll be able to walk in forests. Also I have no idea how to use the mountain tile on the top right :(
This game is giving me quite the headache, although it's really cool to see how intelligent (sort of) the enemy AI is. Nearly every single bit of the graphics are temporary.

I think the graphics look fine the way they are, unless you are planning on going completely custom.

I don't know how this video with its details and lack of blurring got converted to this horrible looking artifactedtohell video. That's Viddler too, which I thought would look better than this. Baaaaaaah.
Anyways, I wasted my weekend (and Friday, and a bit of Thursday too) getting the Save/Load functions working. A few things are missing (transition when loading a game isn't what I want it to be, need to make the "Push button" graphic to look less hideous) but at least that's another important part of the menu done. I'm another step closer to forcing myself to finalize the Character data structure! (The second thing I wrote, so 99% of it is getting thrown out)
After uploading and everything I noticed the mistake I made with Batman's save game. Oops.

Sarenji: No defense stat? I see Move/Boot and Attack/Sword (after zooming in, bigger icons might help. They won't take up much more space next to that portrait) but nothing on resisting damage.
Assuming there's even a defense stat in your game.

Featuring double mouse cursors, and at the end, a completely random dialogue and an incomplete mission menu! (The Windows mouse cursor doesn't actually appear in-game, and I forgot to splice the last few seconds from the video.)
I like that you are doing a strategy game, meavor. That is pretty cool. The map could use some work though, it seems a bit empty. I know you don't want to fill it up to much, so you character can move, but it seems a bit plain.
Also, how is the A.I for the enemies working?

sarenji: nice! I like the graphics of the map, look old school. Also, looks like an interesting game, sort of like the fire emblem games...
Well, here is another pic, that introduces 3 of the new characters that appear in this upcoming demo this month of Soldier's quest ;)
Characters will now have techniques, I'm doing the animations right now... I am looking forward in posting a video, that shows how the combat has improved. I will only spoil one of the techniques, which richter (archer guy with the red hair) does: He shoots arrows upwards, and when they fall on the enemies they explode, hehehe. Expect crazy exxagerations on each update, I'm down to exploit all the limits of the maker on this game, speaking of default battle terms.
