In case anyone missed it, here's a page on the rules and guidelines for the contest. It's a good idea to keep these in mind while you're developing your games.
Here's a tip that saved our butts last year: plan to have your game done AT LEAST four days before the deadline and dedicate the rest of the time to polish polish polish! ESPECIALLY make sure to polish the beginning of the game! According to the rules page, a game-breaking glitch within the first ten minutes will automatically disqualify the game. Game breakers after the first ten minutes will knock a whopping ten points off the glitches category.
Dedicate the last four days of the contest to polish. You'll be glad you did.
