PHOENIX MAFIA: ONLINE TURNABOUT
Posts
I'm getting flashbacks to that one case. You know the one, Puds. That one... where the client was a complete asshole.

Yeah, I remember...it took my six months to finish that god damn case. But the same rules apply here.

My goal is the truth! And if my client is guilty, so be it!
Well, since everyone seems to think that no-lynching is a good idea, and since I only have vague clues regarding suspicions, I believe I should do the same too.
#NoLynch
Also Yellow Magic, I thought I had left clear that I was joking... :/
One question, Puddor: Do you guarantee that the detective will be safe if he/she comes out?

please don't vote to no lynch any more until the detective thing is sorted.
Outing the detective makes the detective a target of night kill. I won't out the detective unless a lynching is everpresent.
I am not sure of my read now on LockeZ, although the know-it-all attitude is not endeariing me to him. And no, dumbass, this is not why equations exist. Equations exist to build bridges, irrigate crops, and to set carburator firing sequences, not to kill people based on errant bullshit. Equations cannot be based on errant bullshit. Errant bullshit is a floating variable that has changed before you're even finished making the equation.

Ilan: joking about what? The psyche locks? If so, I know, but that's not the point.
I'm not sold on LockeZ being innocent: Having been on his team the last Mafia game I can't get past the fact that he placed me as the most devious despite all the facts saying otherwise. With regards to backpedaling, going from me to CAVE_DOG is enough IMO.

Um, replace all instances of 'I' in my previous post with 'Yellow Magic', if you please. He's wrestling with all his might....
Break down for those who don't understand:
When Puddle chooses a client, they are protected from night abilities. They are still open to day powers/lynching, though.
piano knows who the detective is, so there won't be an issue in figuring out who that person is, in the case of multiple claimants.
If the cop is outed and taken as a client, then they will be protected from night powers, and anyone trying to lynch them will more than likely be linked instead.
The only thing we need to know, though, is if the night powers includes being turned to mafia. If Puddle's protection includes making sure they can't be turned then it's a great idea - we will have a cop who can only be killed by Day lynch and since that person will be confirmed both town and cop, there won't be any votes for their death... on pain of being thought to be mafia themselves.
Thus, if the confirmation comes through and it turns out that Puddle can protect her client from being turned, we'll have a cop who is completely safe from anything and confirmed town - a very big plus for town!
All we're waiting for is Judgey to get back to Puds about that.
In the case that she can't protect them from being turned, we'll just have to play this as we can. So, until Puds comes back, no more non-lynch votes. Any added will be seen as mafia trying to end before Puds can pick a client and met with hostility and targets for next day lynching.

And Liberty has made the best point so far. If Puddor's protection can make a client immune to night action, I'd reconsider outing the detective.
@Piano: in case you missed it - puddle will protect the detective from night kills. That's her power - we just have to know if that power also protects the client from powers like that of the mastermind mafia who can get people to switch sides.
If it can then you can safely release the name of the detective and puds will protect him - untouchable detective is a go!
If it can't then puds will have to pick a client herself to protect and we can keep arguing about whether or not to lynch someone first day.

I just broke it down a bit more so people can understand what we're aiming for, Cave and Puds are the masterminds behind the idea.
Will it be possible for the mafia to win if the detective becomes Puds client? If the detective is impervious to night actions including the converting, then s/he will be untouchable. Then the lawyers have their object to add two votes, so unless I'm misinterpreting something then even if it comes down to the lawyers and their client vs. however many mafia, mafia can be outvoted right?
Right, if the detective has immunity from night action, that seems like a hard sell for scum. Even if the detective is the last town and there are four scum, with the four votes that the lawyers have between them, it'd be impossible for scum to win.
Would the detective ever be the last town against four scum though? Usually scums number has to equal town's for scum to win.
Number crunching time!
Okay, so let's go with the optimal version of events for mafia then, shall we?
Day one count:
2 Mafia (I'm assuming that with only 10 real players there'd be 2)
8 Town
Night one they turn someone.
Day two a lynch hits town.
Day two count:
3 Mafia
6 Town
Night two they turn someone.
Day three a lynch hits town.
Day three count:
4 Mafia
4 Town
Night three they turn someone.
Day four Mafia wins.
This isn't including other powers like Vigilante and the like.
So all it would take is 2 days for Mafia to win if we do two bad lynches. Every night they can either kill or steal a townie. That's their true power - taking someone else and adding to their numbers. Even if they have a set-back and lose a member they can replace them. And the powers of that townie ... do they become powers for mafia? I'd imagine so. So this is hard mode, not for mafia but for town.

And yeah, from what I understand, the Attorney's don't count for town numbers so once town is out-numbered there will be problems.
This is another reason we shouldn't rush to a lynch on first day - the life of a townie is a lot costlier in this game than in others, because every single non-mafia counts! Especially because mafia has a way of bolstering their numbers. We need to be careful that we lynch mafia only, or we're going to be overwhelmed very quickly.
