PHOENIX MAFIA: ONLINE TURNABOUT

I always feel so useless on day one!
I feel useless most days in mafia, so don't worry.
Piano and Puddor make good points against LockeZ. I hadn't really thought about how many times YM actually HAS tricked the town in mafia games, it just sounded like something he'd be able to do. Gah, I need to go into "pay extra attention to everything" mode!
to nip this in the bud: the gun claim isn't real
I take issue with this haha
You're responding to the wrong person (me.)
I agree that no-lynching is bad. I just disagree with your reasoning for picking someone.
This is assuming that the only meaningful data at the end of the day is whether the lynched person was scum or not. this is not true. what's arguably more important are the posts and connections formed with flip players. this arises from scumhunting and voting people for perceived 'scumminess,' and then people defending themselves, natural conversations etc. no matter how small/dumb, as they are sure to be on d1. picking someone at random removes this process and makes day two look a lot like day 1.

People who successfully tricked everyone for the entire game and won as scum in previous games:

The only thing we really ever get out of day one is the voting aftermath. If we #nolynch then we don't even have that until day three, so there's less information to work with tomorrow.
There are two ways that mafia members can die: lynches and cops. Both of these have the same problem - they can kill good guys as well as bad guys. But mafia members have a third way of killing people: nightkills. Nightkills can only kill good guys. Therefore it's advantageous to get the highest deaths-per-nightkills ratio possible, even if that means lynching blindly on day one, to maximize our chance of success.
I mean, your logic also makes sense. But not enough sense to make me agree to a nolynch.

I guess I would pick at random, because at this point no one has done anything yet? The only meaningful things people can really say in Mafia are explanations of actions they've already taken. That's why on day one it's almost impossible to make a better lynch than random. Fortunately we at least have metagame data from previous mafia games.

Alright, I read everything here and this is what I have to say about:
From what I have here, I got two choices: nolynch or bandwagon.
From my past history, both of these things leave me as suspect from someone but the thing is, in Day 1 there are usually not that many clues I can work with so these two are my only real options.
Now from what I can deduce, CAVE_DOG's sentence leaves him as the most suspicious for me, I may be wrong and this may be just his natural attitude, but since this looks like my only lead, I'll go with bandwagon and take the prosecutor's side.
#lynch CAVE_DOG_IS_BACK
I made my case already, you can believe me or not, but I'm speaking truth here.
And yes Yellow Magic, I knew you were joking. *sigh* These people who can't understand when one is joking... -_-

what sentence would that be
the gun claim was another joke about killing yellow magic. the only role that has a gun is the vigilante, a town role. s0 what exactly about that sentence makes me a good candidate for lynching, in your mind.
Yeah, they will get their nightkill. If we lynch a townie today and they kill a townie tonight, we are literally at 6 townies and two mafia.
does it say in your role pm that there are two mafia?
As I said before, I may be taking a wrong step here. But one can draw many theories from a suspicious post like yours, or from any other person, and since my investigation options are limitated in Day 1, especially if you're bad at this like me, you have no choice but to follow your instinct.
And my instinct tells me that is convienent for me to stick to this lynch.

Just because it's a gut feeling doesn't mean you can't expand on it with words.
Alright, so you've talked enough to give me a good enough feel. I'm getting a non-Mafia read from Cave. I'll be going with my Cave-dar on this.
liberty: i'm scum this game
everyone else: i'm not scum this game

Alright, we have little to nothing to go on, so let's stop pretending we do. It would be best to lynch someone on day one, but I don't think Cave is mafia. Although, I can't be sure.
He is definitely the easiest to lynch at this point.

Liberty, I have something important to tell you. Please brace yourself and confirm that you are ready for this shocking announcement.
